Position Summary

The Continuous Improvement Engineer will work with an experienced team of LEAN professionals in an environment that has had established LEAN principles since 2004.

This person will collaboratively lead the implementation of lean principles throughout the Montgomery, AL facility, working with employees at all levels, customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to identify and facilitate key projects that will improve quality, reduce costs, improve cycle time, and provide the optimum benefits to customers and the business through waste reduction.

What you will do

  • Ensure that value streams make the most efficient use of resources by assessing manufacturing work flow and conducting capacity studies in Operations to maximize spatial utilization.
  • Facilitate ongoing facility level improvement implementation through:
  • Engage Employee Involvement teams – utilizing problem solving techniques
  • Facilitate planned Kaizen events – 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Standardized Work, Setup Reduction, Flow, and A3 Thinking
  • Review team Improvement ideas and projects – monitoring and measuring progress
  • Conduct Lean training workshops
  • Identifies opportunities to implement common processes and best practices; disseminates and acts upon relevant industry and Corporate benchmarking data.

What you will need to be successful

  • You will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations/Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related degree.
  • Qualified candidates will have at least 1 year of experience in a Continuous Improvement or LEAN role. **For recent graduates, multiple related Internships will also be considered.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills both verbal and written required.
  • Proficiency with current Microsoft Suite (spreadsheets, word processing, charting), required.
