Position Summary

Performs assembly work utilizing lean principles (one-piece flow) to produce FDA regulated devices in a controlled collaborative work environment.

Duties

  • Aptitude and ability to read and interpret basic Engineer blueprints and utilize Assembly Instructions ("Standard Work") to assembly medical device products. Typically joining mechanical and hydraulic components to include some basic electrical wiring.
  • Ability to manage, evaluate, and assemble components or sub-assemblies accurately and efficiently using small hand tools (tape measures, wrenches, screwdrivers, drills, level, torque wrenches, etc) to align or position components.
  • Ability to work safely in a demanding environment performing task while standing and/or walking for extended periods (70%-100% of the day).
  • Inspects and performs finished product testing to ensure product meets established Engineering and Quality requirements.
  • Expected to accurately and legibly record in-process and finished product meets establish Engineering and Quality requirements. 
  • Identify and report my defects or problems encountered during the assembly process.
  • Ability to troubleshoot simple equipment malfunctions.
  • Demonstrates the ability to clearly communicate, collaborate, and work effectively with others in a team environment.
  • Ability and willingness to cross-train throughout home department. 
  • Ability to safety lift and carry up to forty (40) pounds.
  • Ability to periodically bend, stoop, and squat to perform tasks.
  • Supports and promotes a Safe working environment/habit through adherence to STERIS established Safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Basic knowledge, understanding and application of basic LEAN manufacturing tools such as 5S, Kanban, Visual Management, and Problem Solving are preferred.
  • Expected to maintain and sustain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Ability to sustain minimum productivity standards once trained.
  • Demonstrates basic arithmetic and counting skills.
  • Ability to adapt to conditions as dictated by business requirements Conforms to policies, procedures, and Code of Conduct as provided in Employee Handbook.

Education Degree

  • High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Experience

  • Previous assembly experience with small or complex assemblies preferred; 1 - 2 years.
  • Ability to perform in-process inspections and testing preferred; 1 – 2 years.
