Assists with the maintenance, repair and improvement of facility equipment, machinery, and buildings. In addition, assists with the development of efficient parts inventory systems. This position works Saturday to Tuesday from 6:00am to 4:30pm CST.

What you will do with us:

  • Ensures the integrity of the facility equipment calibration program through appropriate management consistent with established procedures, as well as ensuring the program is upgraded or improved when necessary.
  • Ensures the efficient and cost-effective management of facility/regional spare parts program through the review and development of inventory systems.
  • Responsible for the diagnosis of potential or actual equipment issues through observation, problem identification and analysis utilizing available information e.g., cycle printouts, blueprints, schematics followed by ensuring appropriate and efficient corrective action.
  • Responsible for the completion of directed project work through construction and/or installation of systems both electrical and mechanical.
  •  Ensures appropriate work instructions are developed which will ensure less experienced technicians can perform tasks as they become routine in nature.
  • Assists in the design of maintenance solutions through ongoing verbal or written feedback to maintenance and facility managers.
  • Optimizes processing and reduces downtime by performing predictive and preventive maintenance on all equipment, machinery, and facility buildings, as well as participating in the installation of new equipment as required.
  • Contributes to maintaining a safe, secure, and clean workplace by conducting the daily, weekly, quarterly, and semi-annual safety/maintenance inspections according to pre-established guidelines and schedules; completes related paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Contributes to production efficiency by responding to maintenance calls on a 24/7-week basis; investigates reason for call in, and either repairs or defers action for immediate supervisor decision; maintaining a spare parts program.

  • Maintains building climate by installing, repairing, and servicing ventilating, heating and air conditioning systems.
  •   Maintains facility lighting by installing and repairing wiring and fixtures.
  • Monitor’s production efficiency by maintaining and analyzing a production downtime record.
  • Ensures employee safety by adhering to all Lockouts, Tag-out procedures, as well as following MSDS safety procedures when using chemicals.
  • Strives for continuous improvement by analyzing new or alternative ways to improve operations; incorporates staff recommendations into analysis; responds to audit activities in a constructive manner and uses findings to improve operations where possible.

  • Maintains mechanical and technical skills knowledge and abilities b attending workshops, reviewing trade publications, and participating in training operators and material handlers to conduct minor, basic repairs to equipment, machinery, etc.
  •  Contributes to team effort by performing according to the guidelines outlined in the STERIS Code of Business Conduct, the GMP and other directives; supporting the directives and decisions of higher-level management; accomplishing other duties as assigned.
  • Provides for personal protection by using personal protection and/or monitoring devices in hazard areas as required by safety rules.

Work Conditions:

Position requires sitting, standing, walking, stooping, climbing, walking grasping, pulling, pushing, and talking in a processing and office environment. Nature of work requires depth perception, close and far vision, normal color distinction potential for eyestrain, and normal finger dexterity. The work environment includes working in proximity to contained controlled ionizing radiation and/or controlled and contained toxic flammable gas (ethylene oxide) and other treatment/process chemicals of which further information is available through the facility’s Hazardous Communication Standard (Right To Know). May require entering an enclosed vault or vessel. Limited potential to electrical current/voltage. Potential for exposure to sub-protected levels of noise, heat, and humidity, moving parts, machinery, and gears. Hours of work exceed normal business hours, is available on a 24/7 basis for emergency response. Will require use of personal protection items as needed.

Education Degree

  • High School Diploma or GED

You will be a great fit if you can:

  • Requires a minimum of three to five (3-5) years of related experience.
  • Requires ability to read, interpret and practically apply electrical ladder diagrams and mechanical blueprints.
  •  Requires working knowledge of PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) or other types of process control equipment.
  • Requires ability to effectively read, write and verbally communicate in English.
  • Requires ability to work independently under general guidelines and supervision.
  • Requires computer skills and word processing, spreadsheet, and software capabilities.
  • Requires effective interpersonal skills as demonstrated through prior experience.
  • Above average organizing, analyzing and a minimum of Level 3 math skills (ratios, proportions, basic algebra) to determine organizational customer and regulatory problems to formulate corrective action plans.
  • Able to adapt to changing duties and responsibilities.
  • Requires normal hearing range sufficient to hear alarms, bells, horns, etc
