What you will do:

We are currently looking for a Technical Training Instructor, to join our Service Operations team, at our headquarters in Mentor, OH. Our instructors develop and conduct training courses for customers (internal or external). They conduct technical and related training programs both at company sites and off-site as needed to teach, mentor, coach and/or monitor students attending courses or using training equipment/facilities. 

Responsibilities also include:
•    Using equipment documents to assist in the creation of training programs; including outline, text, handouts, tests, and designing laboratory exercises. 
•    Demonstrating procedures being taught, such as preventative maintenance and surgical instrument repair.
•    Responsible for individual assignments relating to these duties, and those required to support the tasks and classes assigned.  
•    Performing department equipment maintenance when necessary and contributing to the training effectiveness of the group. 
•    Having experience with all or some of the following: welding, electrical/electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, proper hand tool usage, measuring instruments, testing equipment, surgical instrument repair, and software.


What you need to be successful:
  • Associate Degree in relevant Science or Instructional background required; Bachelor’s Degree in Sciences or Technologies highly preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered as replacement for some of these requirements. 
  • Certification in an approved instructor training program and/or 2-4 years’ experience in formal (adult) training; industrial, vocational or technical training.  
  • Clear oral and written communication skills a must. Strong ability to mentor colleagues in all areas of training expertise to enhance other instructor’s skills also required.
  • Ability to develop lesson plans based on available curriculum materials, including course outlines, equipment manuals, and engineering materials. 
  • Ability to support the development of training aids, including simulators, e-learning courses, video presentation, distance learning, etc.  
  • Experience navigating a computer, along with experience with Microsoft Office programs required; database program experience is a plus.
  • Must be able to demonstrate your understanding of the products and technologies covered by this assignment; STERIS field experience a strong plus. 
  • Proficiency reading and interpreting technical documentation, such as electrical and plumbing schematics, diagrams, isometric and sectional drawings, etc.
  • Physical working requirements include:1
    • Routine movement such as walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, sitting, standing, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling and grasping.
    • Performing work from floor level to above shoulder height. This may include the use of ladders and/or scaffolds.
    • Routinely lifting, lowering and carrying 1 to 35 pounds, as well as occasionally lifting and lowering 36 to 49 pounds.
    • Walking and standing for extended periods of time.
    • Working in confined spaces and under variable temperatures.
