Position Summary
Team Lead, Final Test Technician will be responsible for leading team members and providing expert knowledge of performing factory testing in a high-quality medical device manufacturing environment. Assists in monitoring and servicing systems, diagnosing problems, troubleshooting equipment, and making required changes. Runs tests on capital equipment using factory test procedures and completes reports into device history records, updates and improves existing symptoms, and repairs and replaces faulty parts. They will spend 80% of the time testing and 20% with documentation and administration.
What You'll do as a Team Lead, Final Test Technician
- Conduct function testing that measures temperature, electricity, light, flow, pressure, strain, force, distance, time, noise, and weight and document results fully and accurately. Testing products for safety, capacities, compliance and performance.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics to understand specifications related to assembly, installation and testing of electrical components.
- Examines and investigates equipment malfunctions. Assists in analyzing equipment failures and factory work stoppage problems. Participate in corrective action resolution.
- Provide feedback to manufacturing assembly departments and engineering with information on failures found in the testing of products to improve manufacturing processes and quality of products.
- Develops economical test with optimum results, Document revision levels, lot numbers, and serial numbers on revision data sheets for tracking quality of components and assemblies.
- Assumes project assignment responsibility and disposes of equipment and apparatus upon completion of tasks.
- Operates STERIS capital equipment, orders materials required to perform factory tests, designs and constructs automated test fixtures.
- Maintain lab and testing equipment by following preventive maintenance requirements and manufacturer's instructions.
- Reject non-conforming parts and complete Non-Conformance Report (NCR) for Supervisor to approve.
- Provides advice and recommendations, including testing protocols, to engineering.
The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 5 years of Electrical experience, including wiring/harnessing
- Including 2 years of hands-on technical experience in a high-tech manufacturing environment.
- Including 3 years experience in washer testing or like equipment.
- Current Steris employees must have at least 5 years experience working with Steris washers before becoming a tester.
- The following leadership skills are required: taking the initiative, initiating action, promoting teamwork, championing ideas, taking appropriate risks, and translating.
Preferred:
- Associate’s Degree preferred.
- 9 years of hands-on technical experience in a high-tech manufacturing environment in lieu of vocational/technical.
- 1- 2 years Programming experience.
- 2 years of experience working in a solid metal fabrication/machining environment - preferred.
- Proficient in soldering techniques.
- Knowledge of TIG welding.
- 1-2 years of experience in a lead or supervisory role strongly preferred.
Other:
- Must be able to use prescribed manual processes in TIG welding in stainless steel, mild steel and aluminum (If welders are in the functional area)
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, including standard weld symbols (If welders are in the functional area)
- Read and comprehend schematic drawings, schematics, blueprints, specifications, work orders, and report needs and assembly instructions (If electrical work is being done)
- Must be able to use precision measuring instruments, gauges, and calipers.
- Must have strong math and troubleshooting proficiency and basic computer skills
- Must have basic welding inspection knowledge and conduct visual inspection
- Must have the ability to stand for long periods of time. Must be capable of lifting 50 lbs without assistance.
- Use test equipment for testing capital equipment
- Knowledge of production concepts such as calibration and quality systems
- Ability to calibrate components per written instructions
- Must have the ability to read factory test procedures, electrical schematics, and quality check sheets
- Works from verbal and written instructions and write non-conformance reports
- Ability to interpret, follow and in some cases create written procedures to ensure components and assemblies meet required specifications
- Computer proficient, with MS Office experience and basic PC skills,
- Effective verbal/written communication skills required for interacting with all levels of personnel within the organization.
