Position Summary

The Sourcing Specialist will provide sourcing, commodity, and supply base management expertise to ensure that all aspects of the sourcing process meet STERIS’s quality, production and corporate procurement requirements.  Additionally, responsibilities include leading, developing, implementing and tracking supplier diversity initiatives and activies to meet established goals. 

What You Will Do
  • Develop strategies to source assigned commodities at the lowest total acquisition cost and lead cross-functional teams to achieve identified savings goals.
  • Provide sourcing expertise and support to Marketing/R&D/Finance/Service/Quality in all stages of new product development.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in the supply base’s contemporary technology that can be utilized to upgrade existing products and designed into new products.
  • Conduct negotiations and issue contracts/agreements.
  • Lead and/or organize all necessary supplier audits including commercial, financial, and technical to ensure that STERIS maintains and continues to develop a robust and capable supply base.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on cost improvements and new product development programs.
  • Lead STERIS efforts to meet Supplier Diversity Corporate goals.
  • Prepare and file SF295 government report and annual government contracts to scheduled requirements.
  • Promote Supplier Diversity activities within STERIS.
  • Prepare and communicate supplier diversity metrics and provide dashboard information with improvement goals to key stakeholders.
  • Track and maintain status of supplier certification for categories that require certification (i.e. HUBZone, Veteran, Veteran Disabled, Women Owned, Disadvantage, etc.).
  • Continue to attend and participate in regional and/or national supplier/supplier diversity meetings (i.e. OMSDC, HUBZone) and workshops.
  • Prepare and collaborate with STERIS contract department on reporting requirements.
  • Update the STERIS Supplier Diversity website and brochure, as necessary.
What You Need to be Successful
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 3-5 years experience in Purchasing/Sourcing, or other business experience requiring strong negotiating skills.
  • Understanding of supplier diversity requirements and experience working with a supplier diversity program, strongly preferred,
  • Experience with sourcing Direct Materials including, but not limited to, metals, metal fabrications, formed plastics, electronics, and engineered sub-assemblies required.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Strong demonstrated experience in all aspects of sourcing including contract negotiations, commodity based materials management, and commercial analysis.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
