Position Summary

The Software Developer – Manufacturing Applications, is a position in the Manufacturing Applications team.  This team is responsible for the support, enhancement and implementation of Manufacturing Applications at STERIS.  

 

The Software Developer will be responsible for maintaining and supporting the Mentor Manufacturing sites Manufacturing Applications and related applications.  Specifically, this position will be responsible for the Syteline Applications and related modules.  There will be interaction with business users to understand issues, gather requirements, coordinate testing and implement solutions.

 

Support of the applications would include resolving issues reported by users.  Resolution process will include, but not limited to, investigating known bugs on software vendor support website, creating tickets or service requests with software vendor, developing scripts to fix data issues, making program changes, testing fixes and applying changes to production.  

 

This position will work on Syteline implementation requests and projects. This position will be expected to take complete responsibility for significant software implementation tasks.  Implementation tasks will include, but not limited to, interacting with business to gather requirements, designing and developing technical solutions, unit testing programs, user testing, documentation and implementation.  Requests involve investigation of known functionality of Syteline and implementation based on business requirements..  
 

What You Will Do

Application Support - 30%

  • Monitors interfaces and critical programs in production systems for errors, performance and any other abnormality
  • Provides first level support for assigned Syteline Applications modules and related applications
  • Troubleshoots and resolves problems reported by users of these modules and applications.
  • Investigates issues using vendor support website(s).
  • Creates tickets or service requests with software vendor.
  • Investigates fixes for issues
  • Investigates setup or configuration changes required in Syteline Applications
  • Works with other team members, DBA team and other teams to resolve issues
  • Works with Business Process Owner(s) to test and make changes to Syteline Applications setup or configurations to resolve issues
     

Applications Development – 70%

  • Reviews and understands business requirements for implementation tasks assigned
  • Investigation of existing functionality to ensure configuration matches business requirements. This will be in the areas of, but not limited to:
    • Reports
    • Forms
    • Interfaces
    • Alerts
    • Data Conversion
  • Develops test scripts and Tests programs according to business requirements
  • Does performance tuning of programs, screens and other objects when performance issues are reported
  • Works with business users to test programs in Development and Quality
  • Writes technical documentation
  • Enhance Syteline user manuals
  • Works with DBA, System Administration teams to migrate configuration changes to Quality and Production
  • Works with Business Process Owners to investigate new functionality in Syteline applications
  • Works on Syteline Application upgrades
  • If working on an FDA validated system, participates in the validation process.
     

What You Need to be Successful

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field plus a minimum of 1 year of Syteline experience or a HS Diploma/GED plus a minimum of 8 years of experience using manufacturing applications required
  • 1 + experience in one or more Syteline modules
    • Inventory 
    • MRP
  • Development experience in Manufacturing Applications environment 
  • Experience in interfaces with other applications using flat file transfers or database links.  Experience in the use of Middleware will be preferred.
  • Experience in Syteline Applications implementation or upgrades will be preferred
  • Strong professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with little supervision and within changing priorities. 
  • Ability to analyze requirements and troubleshoot problems.
