Position Summary

Provides high-level technical and analytical support to Risk Management Department. Delivers general risk management duties in support of property and casualty incident response, finance, insurance, information systems, claims management support and general risk management administration. Directly involved in the placement of commercial insurance programs (property, international, cyber, and others) development of property loss control activities, management of the statement of property values and other claims reporting/processing activities as required at the direction of the Director of Risk Management (DRM.)

What you will do

1.    Directly involved in placement and administration of commercial insurance programs for STERIS, including global property, ocean cargo, international casualty, cyber, surety and other programs at the direction of DRM.

2.    Manages property loss control program including recommendations and communications with the insurance brokers, insurers and internal facilities and EH&S personnel.

3.    Manages and updates exposures and other pertinent information for tracking and underwriting submissions utilizing a risk information management system, currently Origami.  
4.    Coordinates renewals for surety bonds and insurance collateral letters of credit (LOC), processes surety bond requests/renewals/changes, LOC’s & standby trust agreement bank charges for payment and prepares LOC summary for quarterly guarantee schedule.

5.    Manages certificate requests, contract reviews, and other insurance related transactional duties.

6.    Assists with development of annual budget and identifies areas of opportunities to reduce STERIS’ overall Total Cost of Risk (TCOR.)

7.    Identifies cost savings in the Risk Management Department.

8.    Participates on relevant committees to ensure Risk Management objectives are being met.

9.    Assists with other projects as assigned by Treasurer or DRM.

What you need to be successful:

1.Bachelor’s Degree required
2.Minimum of 7-10 years experience in risk management or commercial insurance related services required.  
3.Property insurance and engineering background preferred.
4.Strong listening and communication skills; oral, written and presentation. Must be able to interact and relate to all levels of the organization. 
5.Must possess sound analytical skills and a high degree of initiative, a self-starter capable of working with minimal direct supervision.  
6.Extremely detail-oriented and organized with a focus on quality and consistency, including proven strength in documentation.  
7.Proficient in completing assigned tasks and projects. Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks calmly and effectively.
8.Skilled in business programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
9.Possess financial/accounting knowledge with the ability to manage budgets and allocations.
