Position Summary

The Senior HR Generalist partners with managers and employees at various levels to provide HR guidelines on of a broad range of HR programs and initiatives in support of business objectives.  In partnership with the senior HR partner for the business division and business leadership, will implement solutions to address recruiting, talent management, development, training, employee engagement, compensation and total rewards, and HR compliance matters.  This role is based in Mentor, Ohio HQ office and will support Corporate global functions to include HR, Legal, Finance, IT, Regulatory Affairs, Corporate Communications, Investor Relations, and Business Development.

What You Will Do

  • Oversees recruiting activity for business group, typically working with Talent Acquisition Partners or external recruiters.  Focused on ensuring talent acquisition needs are well defined, resources and processes are in place to meet objectives, and participates in the selection process to help select the right candidates.  Provides guidance to managers so new hires are onboarded effectively.
  • Consults with business to address compensation matters. Assists managers in developing accurate and concise job descriptions, defining skill, knowledge and competency requirements for roles.  Partners with compensation team to perform market analysis.  Implement compensation or total reward programs across employee groups, to include effective communications.
  • Supports change management efforts to foster adoption of HR or business changes to include acquisition integrations, reorganizations or other transitions.
  • Responsible for handling employee relations and/or union avoidance issue resolution.  Directly handle employee relations issues, conduct investigations and recommend solutions.  Will develop and implement programs to foster positive employee relations.  Supports the business in the annual employee engagement survey and action planning process.  
  • Consult with and coach managers as they handle performance issues and talent development needs.  Supports succession planning and employee development plan creation.
  • Supports Diversity & Inclusion strategies that impact talent acquisition and development goals.
  • Support HR business partner in developing customized programs to meet business needs.  Conducts HR research, project support, reporting/analytics, and champions global HR initiatives.
  • Conducts employee orientations, and  facilitate other HR training sessions as needed.  Facilitates new leader assimilations and focus group meetings.
  • Will manage Corporate HR programs to include global HR SharePoint site and employee-facing HR Portal, exit survey tool, and other projects sponsored by Corporate HR.  
  • No direct reports, but will delegate tasks to others and lead projects.  
     

What You Need to be Successful

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 4+ years experience in HR required.  Experience demonstrates progression of HR generalist responsibilities working with a variety of business functions and levels in the organization (experience must include recruiting, ER, perf mgmt, succession planning, compensation practices, and training and development).
  • Prefer HR certifications in recognized HR tools or development programs (MBTI, DDI, PHR, etc).
  • Proficiency with HR systems (HRIS, ATS, preferably SAP Successfactors)
  • Knowledge and application of current HR trends, best practices and compliance issues.
  • Works under minimal direction, will  work independently with managers and employees to resolve routine  issues.  Seeks guidance from senior HR lead on non-routine issues.
  • Works primarily at a tactical level with ability to develop and tailor programs to meet unique business needs.
  • Understanding of business strategies and  ability to align work in support of these goals.
