Position Summary

The Sr. Financial Analyst is responsible for the financial analysis and support of manufacturing sites or a business unit within the Company. These activities include assisting in the budgeting, materials procurement, monitoring inventory transactions, developing costs and the tracking of actual production against plan and understanding variances in material costs and expenses.


Financial Accounting and Analysis – 70%
•    Assists in the month, quarter and year-end financial close process, including but not limited to acquisition integration. 
•    Creates and submits various journal entries in support of the close process.  
•    Develop and maintain financial templates and analysis to improve the financial accounting and internal/external financial reporting on acquisition and other business units.  
•    Gathers and provides backup documentation to management and business units for requested financial information. 
Creates and provides reporting to management on a monthly, quarterly and year end basis, various financial reports including both internal and external reporting.  
Develop financial templates, models and analysis tools in Excel, Khalix and Cognos (standard financial reporting tools) 
Provides information to management by assembling and summarizing data; preparing reports; making presentations of findings, analyses, and recommendations
•    Recommend, interpret and enforce the internal control policies, procedures, and practices of the Company.  
Prepares financial assessments/analysis as needed to support posted activity.
•    Responsible for the Annual Standard cost roll for STERIS manufacturing plants or business units
•    Responsible for analyzing the new costs for the Mentor Manufacturing facilities.
•    Serves as the BPO for AS400 applications, thus, they approve all access requests and perform system testing as requested. 
•    Serves as the main point of contact for audits both internal and external related to inventory. 

Capital Project Maintenance – 20%
•    Gather and maintain the Capital Project Portfolio, including creating and maintaining support of actual capital expenditures 
•    Create and maintain worksheets / charts to quickly analyze Capital Project Portfolio versus plan. 
•    Process Capital Approval Request forms
•    Review capital requests in compliance with the STERIS capital policy, suggest changes as required, secure approvals and submit the approved capital requests to the project coordinator for set up in Oracle Financials
•    Prepares financial assessments/analysis to support post investment reviews.

Forecasting, Planning and Budgeting Cycle – 10%
•    Prepare quarterly forecasting and annual planning/budget process. 
•    Tracks financial status by monitoring variances from plan. 
•    Determines financial status by comparing and analyzing plans and forecasts with actual results.

Education Degree

  • Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience

1.    Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
2.    4-7 years of financial accounting, analysis and reporting 
3.    Advanced knowledge and demonstrated use of business reporting and financial systems (i.e. Oracle, Excel, Informatica, Cognos, Microsoft Access, etc.)
4.    3 years of experience applying knowledge of industry accepted accounting practices and SOX. 

Preferred Experience

1.    Strong resolution and problem solving skills. 
2.    Strong analytical skills and business acumen.  
3.    Advanced Excel, and PowerPoint skills. 
4.    Advanced skill in manipulating large amounts of data into meaningful information. 
5.    Experience in developing metrics.  
6.    Project management skills desired.
7.    Ability to be a self-starter; excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. 
8.    Excellent attention to detail; ability to work as a team member, as well as independently; ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment; ability to successfully execute many complex tasks simultaneously.
9.    Customer service orientation is mandatory.
10.    Ability to interact with all levels of management.
