Position Summary

The Senior Field Service Engineer level I position is a proven leader and technical expert within the Service Engineering department. Primary responsibilities include; independent management and completion of assigned projects, consultative support on technical issues to personnel at all levels of the organization and development / implementation of process improvement initiatives. Requirements include the ability to independently drive activity across the service organization by using clear communication and data-driven justification and /or comprehensive expertise of a particular field or technology necessary to meet future goals of the service organization.

Duties

1. Leadership role within Service Engineering independently conducting design reviews for serviceability and reliability, generating service plans for products and processes, developing service documentation and procedures , defining service parts, outlining service training and tracking equipment performance.
2. Provide and demonstrate technical expertise as SME in areas such as design level product knowledge, software programming, product conversions, control design, video/audio systems design, or networking.
3. Identify and implement changes to processes, systems and/or procedures that improve performance and increase department efficiency.
4. Develop service kits and qualify service replacement parts. Provide guidance to other department personnel.
5 Oversee the development of service kits and qualification of service replacement parts and provide necessary guidance to other Service Engineers and Logistics staff in the department.
6. Acts as an escalation point for resolution of complex technical issues. Provides technical and product support to other STERIS Engineers, technical support personnel, field service associates, sales associates and customers.

7. Provide initial product training to Technical Support, Service Trainers, and Field Technicians. Coordinate the transition of training responsibilities to the Training Department and the transition of product support responsibility to the Technical Support group.
8. Field travel to provide on site technical support, field test support, field training and R&D project support. Travel to vendor sites to assist in performance of quality audits to ensure service parts and products meet STERIS standards. International travel required.
9. Provide consultative support to Regulatory and Quality Control to define and assist in the implementation of product upgrades, enhancements and service procedures.
10. Troubleshoot and analyze technical problems and processes. Resolve immediate issues and implement changes to prevent future problems.
11. Provide qualification/testing documentation and support for design modifications and provide assistance to Field Service Engineers in the department.

Required Experience

Education

1. Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related field.
2. Postgraduate studies in engineering, business or project management preferred.
3. Professional Engineer license a plus

Experience

1. Minimum six (6 )years experience in Service Engineering or associated field.
2. Excellent communication and public relations skills.
3. Demonstrated strong project management leadership skills with the ability to manage/drive projects to completion, - emphasis on Service related functions. At least 3 years.
4. Work experience in the service and repair of both electronic and electromechanical equipment.

5. Computer skills: proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
6. Experience with FDA or GMP regulations for medical or pharmaceutical equipment preferred.
7. Proficient in control programming and program modification for industrial style PLC and/or PC controls preferred.
