Position Summary

The Field Service Engineer is a proven leader and technical expert within the Service Engineering department.  Primary responsibilities include; independent management and completion of assigned projects, consultative support on technical issues to personnel at all levels of the organization and development / implementation of process improvement initiatives.  Requirements include the ability to independently drive activity across the service organization by using clear communication and data-driven justification and /or comprehensive expertise of a particular field or technology necessary to meet future goals of the service organization.  This is position is based in MENTOR, OH and will support field service operations.

Duties

  • Functions as a Service Engineering lead on new product development and current product support projects, independently conducting design reviews for serviceability and reliability, generating service plans for products and processes, developing service documentation and procedures , defining service parts, outlining service training and tracking equipment performance. 
  • Provide and demonstrate technical expertise as subject matter expert in areas such as design level product knowledge, software programming, product conversions, control design, or networking. 
  • Create, review and update technical documentation including; IQOQ documentation, Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), service & maintenance manuals, field servicing procedures, etc.  
  • Act as an escalation point for resolution of technical issues on given product assignment. Provide on site technical support, as necessary. 
  • Oversee the development of service kits and qualification of service replacement parts and provide necessary guidance to other Service Engineers and Logistics staff in the department.  
  • Identify and implement changes to processes, systems and/or procedures that improve performance and increase department efficiency. 
  • Troubleshoot and analyze technical problems. Collaborate cross-functionally with current products engineering, quality, supply chain, Research and Development, etc. to resolve immediate issues and implement changes to prevent future problems. 
  • Perform service and maintenance training on assigned products to technical support personnel, field service representatives, and customers.  Assist in the technical development of department engineering resources. 

Education Degree

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering General or Electrical Engineering

Required Experience

  • Minimum of three years experience in the service and repair of both electronic and electromechanical equipment. 
  • Proficiency in control programming and program modification for industrial style PLC (Siemens, Allen Bradley) and/or PC controls highly preferred
  • Proven strong project management skills with the ability to manage/drive projects to completion, - emphasis on Service related functions. A minimum of 3 years experience required. 
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including, taking initiative, initiating change, promoting teamwork, championing ideas, taking appropriate risks, translating ideas into specific tasks, gaining confidence and trust of others. 
  • Strong organization, planning and analytical skills 
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with all levels of employees, as well as Customers and other external contacts 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products:  Word, Excel and PowerPoint 
  • Demonstrated ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and interpret a variety of technical data and documents. 
  • Experience with FDA or GMP regulations for medical or pharmaceutical equipment preferred 
  •  
  • Postgraduate studies in engineering, business or project management preferred.
