Position Summary

The Senior Director, Global Services Training is a highly visible, impactful role that will develop the vision, strategy and plans to achieve current training needs and prepare the training function to meet future business imperatives for multiple business lines. You will gather business and training system requirements, develop training strategy, and program/curriculum oversight for technical, Customer experience and quality management system (QMS) training requirements for field- and lab-based technicians and dealers on a global basis. 

You will partner with training leaders globally to set strategy and execution objectives.  You will be responsible for producing integrated, innovative training solutions to achieve Customer requirements and a successful learner experience that meets a variety of learning styles. You will partner closely with field leadership, human resources, R&D and engineering, quality management staff and other internal stakeholders to achieve data driven decisions, plans and KPI’s.

The Senior Director, Global Services Training also leads high performing teams located in Mentor, Ohio and across the country. 

*This position is based on site in Mentor, OH or Birmingham, AL (preference is Mentor) and eligible for a hybrid work schedule.  There will be approximately 20% travel.
 

What you will do as a Senior Director, Service Training

•    Lead the execution and thought leadership for technical training functions across Global Services. 
•    Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure a complete understanding of mid to long-term learning objectives that align with talent acquisition, development, and retention strategies to deliver impactful human capital outcomes
•    Design and execute effective requirements gathering process and controls and collaborate with clinical staff, technical and field teams to scope, development and validate training content aligns with requirements
•    Create effective strategic planning methods for the function and aligns learning models and metrics to drive accelerated performance and revenue outcomes
•    Work closely with Marketing and Field/Sales leadership to identify, market, and deliver Customer Training solutions that enhance contract renewal and sales efforts
•    Evaluate alternate training methods to maintain continuous improvement in delivery and efficiency in the program.
•    Identify data collection tools, data sources, benchmarks, and performance targets 
•    Participate in cross functional efforts to ensure talent forecast, onboarding and field training support is in place to achieve new hire” time to proficiency”
•    Establish business continuity plan for technical training functions, including strategic partnerships and processes that meet business and regulatory needs during business disruptions (weather, pandemic, system impacts)
•    Oversee the development and maintenance of learning and development resources in the learning management system (LMS) to ensure user engagement as well as accurate offerings, catalogs, and assignments to comply with all relevant compliance and reporting requirements.
•    Utilize off the shelf as well as internally developed training materials and curriculum, and drives effective analysis and decision making to determine best approach
•    Assess needs of remote based learners, including practices that adapt and flex to meet business and comply with the ADAA 
•    Lead strategic development of content, frameworks, processes, systems, training, and tools that support service delivery 
•    Model STERIS values and develops high performing teams that results in seamless design and delivery, strong business partnerships that assume shared ownership for training outcomes  
•    Manage the efforts of vendor resources to ensure successful development and delivery of third-party learning offerings

The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed

Required: 

•    Bachelor’s Degree with significant coursework in training, organizational development,  instructional design, adult education, or a related field required
•    Minimum of 15 years of related progressive business experience required
•    Minimum of 8 years in technical training, and at least 5 years of leading and managing a team required
•    Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and techniques of adult education and accelerated learning concepts for curriculum and training design
•    Proven strategic planning and analysis skills 
•    Budget planning and management 
•    LMS (Learning Management System) knowledge and management
•    Service training design and delivery experience, including multi-channel delivery and tools (e.g., Onsite classroom, virtual, field based, VR, gamification)

 

Preferred: 

•    Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership/Organizational Design, or Education preferred.
•    Experience in technical training of medical device/services.  
•    Agile Team/LEAN training and experience
•    Quality Management System/Regulatory Knowledge (Medical)
