Position Summary

The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for the financial analysis and support of Global Business Unit activities within the Company. These activities include budgeting, forecasting, monitoring, and directing journal transactions, tracking P&L performance, and providing explanations, and providing strategic analytical/research support as needed.

What You'll do as a Senior Business Analyst

Business Strategy – 40%

  • Develop and execute, in coordination with the BU Controller, the annual Budgeting process and plan, as well as forecasting.
  • Assist with the preparation of the Annual Strategic Plan, with necessary financial and strategic analysis.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of financial analysis for the Business Unit, to support Business Development, Product Development, and Marketing and Sales Programs.

Financial Accounting and Analysis – 40%

  • Independently review and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, and profit margin results, providing explanations along with performance reporting. This would include pricing/new products analysis, trends, margin analysis, etc.
  • Function as back-up for the Business Unit Controller regarding the BU activities.
  • Review results with BU team members, working to identify issues and solutions.
  • Create, maintain, and produce daily/weekly/monthly financial and operational reports and packages. Create business unit scorecards and related executive presentations/monthly reports.  
  • Active participation in oversight of the consolidation of monthly close for the business unit, coordinating re-class/correcting/necessary journal entries.  
  • Partner with business team (marketing/sales/R&D/management) to identify and then create specialized reporting or data retrieval, needed for critical business decisions.
  • Measure actual performance results against forecast/plan/prior year and identify issues that require further action.  Highlight areas of business unit underperformance and recommend solutions.
  • Create Business Unit capital requests, work with BU management team, and create business return analysis.
  • Create and maintain monthly reporting regarding capital spending within the business unit.
  • Coordinate with the BU Controller on issues/analytics/data manipulation as needed.
  • Utilize knowledge of internal systems to provide insightful, accurate and timely analytical information.
  • Independently identify opportunities and make recommendations to improve the financial performance of the business unit.
  • Independently identify opportunities to improve process flows related to the analytical procedures performed, including utilization of emerging technologies.
  • Develop and maintain procedural documentation, including database creation and maintenance, data entry rules, and reporting requirements.
  • Perform ad hoc reporting as requested for variety of needs throughout the Business Unit.
  • Support internal Customers across overall Healthcare (Products & Services) as required.

Financial and Internal Controls – 20%

  • Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes in accordance with corporate guidelines and policies.
  • Prepare and enter financial journal entries into the general ledger system in accordance with corporate policy.
  • Assure compliance with established SOX controls and provide suggestions for strengthening internal controls.

The Experience, Abilities and Skills Needed

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • 5 + years of financial accounting, analysis, and reporting
  • Knowledge and demonstrated use of business reporting and financial systems (i.e. Oracle, Excel, Informatica, Cognos, Microsoft Access, etc.)
  • 3 years of experience applying knowledge of industry accepted accounting practices and SOX.
  • Strong resolution and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and business acumen.  
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Advanced skill in manipulating large amounts of data into meaningful information.
  • Oracle Experience a big plus.
  • Experience in developing metrics.  
  • Project management skills desired.
  • Ability to be an initiative-taker; excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail; ability to work as a team member, as well as independently; ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment; ability to successfully execute many complex tasks simultaneously.
  • Customer service orientation is mandatory.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management.

Pay range for this opportunity is $75,000-95,000. This position is eligible for bonus participation.

 

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed.  Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
