Position Summary

The Reliability Engineering team at STERIS is growing and is looking for talented Reliability Test Engineers to join their team. This opportunity will offer you the opportunity to develop tests for new product development across the organization while working at the STERIS North American headquarters in Mentor, Ohio. The ReliabilityTest Engineer verifies, through testing, the reliability requirements for both new products and existing product platforms, assists in the implementation of the reliability program, performs testing and analysis to ensure that products meet all requirements. 

What you will do:

  • The Test Engineer will support STERIS’s commitment to high product quality that exceeds customer expectations.
  • You will work across multiple disciplines and with cross-functional teams to understand the product and test requirements.
  • Test the reliability of critical components, sub-assemblies and products prior to production phases and implementation.
  • This role is also responsible for testing, analyzing preliminary engineering-design concepts for new and existing products, and recommends best test methods to attain specified operational reliability requirements.
  • You will  author, review and oversee execution  all  reliability test plans and protocols to achieve system reliability and meet specific acceptance criteria.
  • This individual analyzes failure data, creates and communicates test reports and results. 
     

What you need to be successful:

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with two or more years of experience in a Reliability Test Engineer role.
  • Ability to interpret and adopt ASTM, ISTA, MIL and other standard test methods.
  • Ability to create custom test methods based on unique test requirements.
  • Ability to design and create test fixtures.
  • Ability to interpret, analyze, and present technical information using practical judgment. 
  • Capable of functioning effectively in a team environment. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio.
  • Proficient in Excel pivot tables and charting.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.  
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills. 
  • Ability to organize and manage concurrent activities. 
  • Knowledge of advanced data gathering and analysis techniques, including statistical analysis. 
  • Knowledge of standard quality and reliability tools such as FMEA (Failure Modes Effect Analysis), Root Cause Analysis, DOE and Statistics. 
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and manage relationships at all levels of the organization as well as cross-functionally to achieve reliability goals.
