Position Summary

The Project Manager is an integral role within the Americas Commercial Operations business unit and will deploy project management methodologies and tools to implement process and systems improvements.  These include Lean initiatives, software implementations/upgrades, operational efficiencies and organizational changes.  The Project Manager has responsibility for managing and executing large cross-functional projects within the Americas Commercial Operations business unit.  The position will work cross-functionally with groups such as Sales, Marketing, Training, Finance, Operations and IT with the objective of driving projects to completion, on time and at/under budget.

Duties

Project Management

  • Manages projects through all stages from needs assessment through design and delivery
  • Define, develop and implement specific improvement opportunities as they relate to the efficiency and profitability of the Americas Commercial Operations business unit
  • Lead the planning, directing, coordinating and driving of multiple projects, varying in size and scope and recommend revisions in project work plans as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
  • Facilitate the definition of projects’ scope, goals and deliverables
  • Manages multiple cross-functional projects using formal project management methodologies
  • Coordinates intradepartmental projects and resources
  • Maintains project plans that accurately reflect task owners, completed and future work including timelines, milestones and dependencies
  • Identify and define resource requirements and assignments
  • Manage all STERIS and non-STERIS resources assigned to the effort, including defining each team member’s role and responsibility

  • Lead and manage creation of gate deliverables and gate presentations
  • Prepare and present reports defining project progress, problems and solutions
  • Develop a project agenda and prioritize based on impact and timelines
  • Drive project teams to make decisions, complete tasks, and execute the plan based on defined deliverables and timelines
  • Develop scorecards and metrics for each initiative to track progress and share with leadership and team members
  • Use Lean philosophies and methodology for process improvement
  • Prepare, conduct and facilitate Kaizen events
  • Gather statistical data to support identified opportunities
  • Measure implemented solutions

Change Management

  1. Document new processes and procedures
  2. Implement process, technology or organizational changes based on determined solutions
  3. Prepare and deliver all communications related to the initiative
  4. Prepare comprehensive implementation plans
  5. Ensure a smooth transition from recommendation to implementation including the preparation of performance metrics from which progress will be gauged

Education Degree

Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience

  1. 7 – 10 years of business experience
  2. Experience in managing 2 – 3 major business projects from concept to implementation
  3. Experience in Customer Service, Supply Chain and/or Finance preferred
  4. Lean experience preferred
