As a Product Sourcing Engineer  at STERIS, you will be a pivotal part of our strategic sourcing and procurement initiatives. You will work to ensure products requested by our product management teams, are sourced and validated for quality and compliance effectively. You'll serve as the technical expert responsible for documenting and adhering to STERIS's third-party product introduction processes. Additionally, your expertise will be vital in supporting cross-functional teams on various new product development sourcing and change control projects, such as business continuity, value improvement, line extensions, new products, and acquisitions.

 

This position is considered a Hybrid role - Minimum 3 days onsite at our Mentor, Ohio Headquarters is required. 

 

Key Responsiblities:

 

  • Serve as the technical expert for the business to both external (suppliers) and internal customers, including cross-functional team members. 
  • Work with product managers to verify established product requirements. 
  • Interpret and evaluate reports and data provided by suppliers to ensure products meet STERIS requirements.
  • Work with cross–functional team members involved in product definition and requirements including areas of regulatory, quality, marketing, and clinical. 
  • Ensure the “Introduction of Third-Party Products” and “Change Control Project” processes are followed. Improve these processes where necessary.
  • Work with the Sourcing Project Engineer and cross-functional team to create project schedule.
  • Understand and own dependencies on schedule and work to proactively mitigate risks and create contingency plans. May be required to monitor CFT schedule. 
  • Work directly with the Sourcing Project Engineer and Sourcing Specialist to find new opportunities, maintain established relationships, and communicate both technical and business-related needs to suppliers. 
  • May provide project support with the integration of acquisitions.
  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

What experience, skills, and abilities will you need?

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience, with at least 1 year in project management, product development, and/or change control within the medical device or similarly regulated industry.
  • Experience in one or more of the following disciplines is a plus: Design and/or Development Engineering, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Quality.
  • Strong project management and technical skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, quickly learn new concepts, and deliver innovative solutions to complex challenges.
  • Commitment to quality and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Ability to adapt to changing internal and external customer needs and priorities.
  • Proficiency in presenting project updates to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong planning and organizational abilities.
  • Knowledge of the regulatory environment, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and applicable Quality System Standards.
  • High standards for timeliness, work ethic, and personal integrity.
