Position Summary

This position will provide professional legal support services to the corporate legal department, business groups, and outside attorneys and advisors.  Key responsibilities include drafting and editing of legal documents, communications and contracts, legal research, and preparing legal briefs and appropriate legal materials for group attorneys. 

Duties

  1. Assist attorneys with complex, confidential or sensitive matters covering a wide range of legal issues, including, accurate preparation of significant legal documentation, interfacing with attorneys, outside counsel, and management at all levels, and organizing documents and maintaining files.
  2. Preparing and maintaining commercial agreements and other documents in support of the AST and Life Sciences business segments under the direction of the Deputy General Counsel, Life Sciences and AST.
  3. Prepare and maintain information technology agreements under the direction of the Associate General Counsel, Information Technologies.
  4. Support the data privacy and cybersecurity functions under the direction of the Associate General Counsel, Information Technologies, including transactional support for agreements involving data sharing or other data privacy legal impacts, supporting cybersecurity matters, preparing data privacy notifications and assisting with the development of privacy policies, notices, and other materials.
  5. Support for litigation matters in the AST, Life Sciences, or Information Technologies areas, including locate and organize discovery materials, and prepare draft responses for discovery matters in response to pleadings, interrogatories, and requests for admission

Education Degree

  • Associate's Degree

Paralegal Certification in Lieu of Experience

Associate's Degree in Paralegal Studies preferred, or paralegal certification approved by the American Bar Association accepted

Required Experience

1.    3- 6 years of relevant experience as a paralegal in a private law firm or corporate legal department to include international experience
2.    Experience with Form 4/Section 16 filing
3.    Broad knowledge of the basic principles of state and foreign laws regarding legal entities including those governing establishment, maintenance and termination of legal entities, and knowledge of corporate record keeping with respect thereto
4.    Strong typing skills (70-80wpm) and computer skills required, with knowledge of general office equipment.
5.    Superior organizational, analytic, verbal and writing skills necessary.
6.    Superior interpersonal skills; ability to work with various types of people at all levels of management.
7.    Good business judgment; ability to complete tasks under pressure and/or strict deadlines; detail oriented.

2.    Excellent computer skills, preferably with experience with information management systems and PowerPoint presentations.
