Position Summary

The PLM Applications Intern is responsible for developing custom reports utilizing the PTC Windchill PLM platform. The IT team has reporting framework for engineering change management, but they would like to develop reports for promotion request process, which is where the intern will come in. These reports will provide business users with information from the STERIS PLM system, based on the PTC Windchill technology platform.  The intern will be responsible for gathering requirements, performing development and configuration, unit testing, documentation and assisting with deployment.     

 

This IT internship offers practical work experience in windchill PLM and an introduction to new technologies/platforms such as Stylesheet changes to form the digital service manuals, catalog etc. along with the exploration of AI capabilities using Microsoft Copilot. This internship will involve challenging opportunities, real technical projects, and interaction with staff. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the computer field. This internship provides an opportunity to gain experience with the technical operations of a Medical Devices Company.

What You'll Do as a PLM Application Intern

Application Administration

  • Perform Installation and configuration of business applications.
  • Explore and create documents to detail development, testing and publishing of custom reports/ applications on PLM (Windchill).
  • Gather requirements, perform development and configuration, unit testing, documentation and assist with deployment.
  • Support work for IT teams on various projects as needed.

The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed

Required:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program with a major in Computer Science or Information Technology
  • Sophomore year requirements must be completed by program start (May 2026). Junior or Senior status preferred
  • Currently enrolled in or completed courses in databases, programming, SQL
  • Programming knowledge in one or more of the following: Java, Python, JavaScript, XML, JSON

 

Preferred:

  • GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Comfortable working with Oracle / SQL server database.
  • Familiarity with Engineering Applications and business processes.
  • Knowledge of various other software products such as Cisco VPN client, Remote Access Client, and McAfee Anti-Virus is very helpful.
  • Good knowledge of telecommunication tools – mobile phones, WebEx, Teams, etc.

  • Ability to work independently as needed
  • Strong learning agility and organization skills
  • Analytical and team-oriented 
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Have a strong desire to work with entire software development lifecycle (SDLC) process and follow the STERIS specific software change process

Pay range for this opportunity is $20-25/hr.

 

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed.  Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
