Material Handler

Position Summary

Pull material from warehouse to support production material needs. Stock designated storage/staging areas. Assist with shipping/receiving duties and other warehouse responsibilities. Perform accurate inventory system transactions for components moving between/within the warehouse and production areas via mobile equipment and/or desktop computer. Use powered or manual equipment to move items to designated storage areas. 

Duties

• Pick raw materials from warehouse to replenish production supermarkets, Kanban bins/carts, or other designated areas on the manufacturing floor.

• Perform inventory transactions and transfers in the inventory system.

• Operate equipment, such as forklift, electric and manual pallet jacks, and stretch wrapper for material handling and loading/unloading of trucks.

• Assist receiving with the unloading of incoming materials and items, along with the labelling and the put-away of materials to designated locations, and the delivery of items to designated personnel.

• Maintain inventory accuracy by aiding in cycle counts.

• Confer and correspond with supervisor to resolve problems, such as missing paperwork, damages, shortages, and nonconformance to procedures and policy.

• Pull from storage, load, unload, move, transport, and store items according to routing documents, system driven tasks, or supervisor instruction.

• Comply with all quality systems, safety, security, and shop practice requirements.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education Degree

Required Experience

• Minimum of 1 year shipping and receiving or material handling experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment preferred.
• Experience operating a forklift or a powered pallet jack preferred.
• Must have ability to work from verbal/written instructions.
• Individual must be able to adapt to change and be flexible to meet reasonable objectives.
• Position requires lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, standing, sitting, and hand/finger dexterity.
• Ability to work individually or in a team environment.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of facility staff.
• Basic arithmetic skills, the ability to read and understand procedures and documents, the ability to record and verify data.
