Position Summary

If you are that person that looks at a process and thinks there has got to be a better way and then find one, then you should join our Life Sciences team as a Strategic Business Operations Manager.  You will be responsible for the development, maintenance and execution of the Life Sciences Operations strategy, through proper identification and implementation of KPIs and strategic initiatives that achieve operating plan goals and objectives.  You will partner with senior managers in the development of strategies to ensure all established revenue, cost, quality and delivery commitments are met or exceeded. Other responsibilities include helping with the identification, development, and evaluation of new business/program opportunities that align with the Life Sciences strategy and identifying crucial factors affecting the profitability and potential of new/existing programs. Evaluates service operations of acquired companies to determine areas of and strategy for integration. 


  • Life Sciences Strategy Development, Maintenance and Improvement - Responsible for the Life Sciences  strategy development and deployment process (Balanced Scorecard)
    1. Lead the global Life Sciences team to identify strategic objectives that align with the team’s vision
    2. Develop, trend and maintain KPI’s that successfully indicate the success of the Balanced Scorecard, and recommend areas for improvement
    3. Identify and prioritize initiatives that align with the strategic objectives to ensure Life Sciences meets its KPI targets
  • Operations Strategy Execution- Responsible for developing and executing an operating plan for North American and European Life Sciences Equipment and Service group by:
    1. Understanding the dynamics of the key economic drivers and monetizing the impact of all the marketing and continuous improvement initiatives to establish an operating plan that will determine headcount and overtime for the capacity plan
    2. Maintaining internal process perspective of Balanced Scorecard for LS by establishing vision for the key strategic initiatives, ensuring strategic initiatives are completed on time and within budget requirements
    3. Working cross-functionally with Engineering, Marketing, & Field Service Operations team to set priorities, allocate resources for execution, and monitor performance of process improvement. 
    4. Working closely with the Life Sciences Finance team to monitor the ongoing economic performance of the business 
    5. Assisting in the development and ongoing refinement of the Life Sciences Balanced Scorecard by ensuring data, metrics and reporting accurately meets leaderships’ needs
  • Acquisition Integration -
  1. Evaluates service operations of acquisitions on a case-by-case basis to determine current processes, best practices, and areas of integration
  2. Implements best practices of service operations acquisitions to create standard, streamlined processes
  3. Leverages best practices across global Life Sciences service team

Education Degree

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Other Technology

Required Experience


Bachelors degree in Business, Management, or Technical discipline.  MBA preferred. Balanced Scorecard Professional Certification; Six Sigma / Lean Certification preferred.


  • Minimum of five to seven years in management role or equivalent experience in a service environment preferred
  • Experience managing process improvement initiatives
  • Experience implementing balanced scorecards and strategy mapping
  • Experience with Siebel / Oracle preferred
  • Experience with SQL, Minitab, IBM Cognos, Tableau, Microsoft Access, Excel and other reporting tools required


  • Ability to lead, influence and execute initiatives and programs using cross-functional teams in a matrix organization, without formal direct reports
  • Systems thinking and critical thinking skills
  • Knowledge and proven experience with business best-practice methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean, RCM, etc.)
  • Proven ability to work at all levels in an organization and drive change 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Innovative and conceptual thinker
  • Operates with high level of productivity and efficiency 
  • Proven skills as a timely communicator, focused on providing Customer satisfaction and team building
  • High-level knowledge of financial management and exposure to cost accounting desired. Working knowledge of PC’s and packaged software (Advanced Excel, Access, Word, and MS Project)
  • Previous experience in a Service Organization is desired
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills
