Position Summary

Manage a team of software test engineers verifying embedded software of medical devices and associated software applications.  Provide training and coaching to advance team’s competencies in unit, integration, functional, regression testing across product platforms to direct reports.  Coordinate with project managers to determine and  schedule activities to meet project goals. Utilize performance and quality metrics to refine software test processes and employ appropriate tools.

Duties

  • Trains and develops test engineers in developing test designs, test procedures, and test plans to efficiently and appropriately verify software controlled sterilizers and other medical devices.
  • Ensure team designs, implements, debugs, and executes software tests according to corporate policies and business operating procedures on new and sustaining engineering projects.
  • Participates in test reviews to identify issues and provide recommendations.
  • Mentors to propagate good test design principles and practices.
  • Assigns tasks to test engineers and assesses their deliverables against expectations
  • Explores new test technologies and tools.
  • Creates department work instructions for test plans, procedures, tracing, and reports
  • Drives development of test automation framework.
  • Identifies and procures tools and technologies as appropriate for test designs and execution.
  • Oversees validation of software test tools.
  • Defines and tracks appropriate metrics to assess test progress and software quality.

Required Experience

  • Requires 8+ years of progressive engineering experience in the development and verification of software and firmware systems
  • Bachelor in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Software Engineering.   (A degree in another Engineering discipline may be acceptable with proven software education and/or training and demonstrated software experience.)
  • Experience working in medical device industry or other regulated industry is highly desirable which require formalized software development processes and software risk management.
