Position Summary

The Marketing Communications Manager provides strategic marketing communications expertise to product and market managers that produce tangible results, provides careful planning, precision execution, and maximum performance that support STERIS’s business plans and SBU marketing growth initiatives in a cost-effective manner.  This role provides multi-functional tactical support for the Marketing Communications Senior Managers.


  1. Execute strategic communications plans that align with the SBU strategic business growth initiatives. Write creative briefs in support of these projects.
  2. Provide strategic value to the Senior Manager to allow for concise and compelling communication of a value proposition.
  3. Position yourself as a “thought partner” to the leaders of the product segments in order to create market differentiation and value creation.
  4. Manage marketing communication activities for assigned SBU. Marketing communications activities to include: product launches, integrated campaigns, trade show strategy and content, journal advertising, public relations, direct marketing, web content, sales support and customer collateral and electronic media.
  5. Serve as an extension of the SBU marketing staff as the liaison to all corporate communications support functions.
  6. Research promotional channels and media for maximum performance on spend.
  7. Analyze market research provided by the marketing group to better understand our customers’ needs and market segment trends, in order to better communicate our key messages.
  8. Conduct field visits to get better acquainted with Customers and sales force.
  9. Maintain our status as marketing communication subject matter experts by being active members of local/regional communication networks, attending seminars/webinars on new forms of communication, subscribe to industry newsletter and publications, etc.
  10. Analyze and track competitive spending…track estimated spending, competitive value props and key messaging…Provide insight as to potential competitive strategy

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or related field
  • 5+ years marketing and or marketing communications experience of time sensitive communication materials
  • Knowledge of desktop publishing, layout and design as well as commercial printing processes are a plus
