Position Summary

In this role you will manage and lead team of Process Engineers and the  Advanced Manufacturing Department towards developing, designing, and maintaining manufacturing processes in order to provide the safest work environment for STERIS  employees, the most efficient use of our labor force, on-time delivery, and the highest quality devices critical to the success of STERIS Endoscopy.


•    Direct reporting responsibilities for Process Engineering Supervisor, Advanced Manufacturing Supervisor, and Process Engineers.  May at times have co-op reporting responsibilities. Utilize current resources effectively, maintain budgets, and communicate current and future needs that align with company goals and objectives.
•    Develop and implement effective department strategies that drive profitable business results and are conducive with Steris Endoscopy’s growth and longevity including creating/utilizing effective metrics and trends for analysis.
•    Lead and participate on various teams.  Must have a commitment to teamwork and quality and have the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, focusing on the satisfaction of changing customer (internal and external) needs and priorities.  Must anticipate potential project hurdles and actively plan contingencies. 
•    Active in continuous improvement efforts and data analysis to drive decisions, priorities, and recommendations with emphasis on labor efficiency, scrap/rework, capacity, and equipment utilization.
•    Provides coaching and development of staff to position top performers for internal promotions that are beneficial to the individual and the company.
•    Involved in internal and external audits to address and drive improvements in implementation of documented practices as well as improving and correcting internal documents relating to safety, production and quality procedures.
•    Uses interaction skills to foster open dialog and build and maintain trusting relationships.  Coordinates periodic training and communication meetings as necessary.
•    Provides Capital recommendations and coordination of budgets
•    Must be able to present to technical and non-technical audiences (project meetings, plant meetings, board meetings, audits, etc.)  This position may at times be required to soley represent the Operations function in key meetings when the department head is not able to attend.
•    Evaluates the effectiveness of, and makes necessary adjustments to, regularly scheduled preventative maintenance on Equipment.
•    Plans and implements Equipment and/or safety related continuous improvement projects.
•    Analyzes unplanned downtime, develops corrective actions and establishes a proactive plan using to reduce or eliminate future occurrences.
•    Enforces and promotes the Preventive Maintenance Program developed for his/her facility, and reviews effectiveness annually.

Required Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required; Biomedical degree preferred.  Master in Business Administration preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years manufacturing engineering experience to include a minimum of 2+ years of management experience.
  • Medical Device manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Must have experience in a highly regulated industry. 
  • Experience managing capital expenditures.
