Position Summary

The Manager – Health & Safety, Field Operations (Sales and Service Employees) serves in a staff function and works in a coordinated effort with line management across the globe to address and resolve health and safety issues.  This person works as an advisor to all members of the global line organizations including the Group Presidents, Vice Presidents, Directors, Managers and Technicians to facilitate the safety program.  This person is responsible for oversight of various global safety and health processes and supports the strategic drive to create a World Class Safety culture within Field Sales and Service.  He/She provides expertise in the implementation of global safety and health management activities for Field Sales and Service.  This person is responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Company’s Safety and Health programs to meet governmental requirements and Company philosophies while optimizing costs.  This includes planning, developing, and coordinating safety compliance and programs for the Global Field Service and Field Sales Organizations.    



  1. Oversee the development and implementation of Field Operation’s Safety and Health programs across North America and Europe. 
  2.  Maintain a strong relationship between the Operational EHS corporate organization and local line staff to assure common alignment on development, interpretation and implementation of injury prevention and safety requirements.
  3. Lead in the development of initiatives that transition Field Operations towards a zero-incident safety culture. Focus is on increasing employee engagement and the development of line management safety leadership.
  4. Provide information to Senior Management on incident causes, costs and recommend long-range incident reduction and cost containment objectives.
  5. Manage the Workers Compensation program implementation for the North American Sales and Service groups.
  6. Coordinate incident investigations with line management and provide assistance to supervisors as necessary in developing recommendations to prevent recurrence.  1
  7. Review and provide feedback on incident investigations to ensure that work place hazards are reduced or eliminated.  1
  8.  Develop programs to train employees and management in safe practices including: hazard communication, bloodborne pathogens, respirator use, lock-out/tag-out, fall protection, safe driving, asbestos awareness, tuberculosis awareness, electrical safety, ethylene oxide, hearing protection, personal protective equipment, safe lifting, and others as needed. 
  9. Balance injury prevention and cost considerations while assuring a continued drive towards creating a zero-injury safety culture.  
  10. Assist in the generation of applicable policies/procedures pertaining to Field Health and Safety to ensure a consistent and cost-effective approach. 
  11. Serve as corporate expert on specific safety and health programs. Address questions and assess and support local implementation. 
  12. Drive global standardization of best practices and share critical knowledge and experience across entities and continents. 
  13. Identify and manage development of emerging safety and health issues; assist line management with new or revised common work processes / interpretations to ensure compliance.  
  14. Coordinate global communications reviewing performance, sharing incident lessons learned and educating Field Operations line management on methods to improve performance. 
  15. Ensures programs are in place to facilitate compliance with federal, state, provincial, and local safety regulations and codes. 
  16. Maintain consistency for all Safety and Health efforts throughout the Sales and Service operations. 
  17.  Serve as a resource for Divisional Management and Safety/Environmental staff. 
  18. Serve as the principal liaison with local, state, provincial, or federal regulatory agencies relative to Field safety related operations. 
  19. Develop and maintain safety systems, policies, and assist others with procedures as necessary.  
  20. Address requests to evaluate safety issues in the workplace in a timely fashion. 
  21.  Develop strategic Safety and Health planning for Field Sales and Service and assist with the implementation as needed.

Education Degree

  • Bachelor's Degree in General Studies

Required Experience

  1. Four year degree in Safety/Environmental, Business or Engineering discipline strongly preferred.
  2. Knowledge of Occupational Safety Health Administration and health, safety, and environmental codes and regulations required. 10 years
  3. Experience working with multistate workers compensation programs.  10 years
  4. Proficiency on computer statistical tracking programs. 10 years
  5. Ability to train others in all areas of safety and health to all levels within the corporation.
  6. Proficiency on computer programs such as word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and statistics.
  7. Strong organizational skills.
  8. Excellent oral and written communications skills.
