Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Sr. Maintenance Tech, Team Lead, Supervisor or Manager the Maintenance Technician I will learn to provide troubleshooting, repair maintenance, preventive maintenance, and installation support for new and existing manufacturing equipment, facility equipment, and devices. Learn to provide on-line maintenance support and maintain all safety standards.
What You'll do as a Maintenance Technician
- Learns to diagnose defects and damages pertaining to production equipment or anything related to the facility. Collaborates in the decisions making process to repair them.
- Suggests on the opportunity to do the repairs internally or to submit them to external specialists.
- Learns to repair the equipment or supervises vendors and contractors' work. This activity may involve the fabrication of new components.
- Converses with equipment operators to troubleshoot problems with equipment before breakdown and to determine if the breakdown is due to human error or a mechanical problem.
- Learns to replace defective components and wiring and adjusts mechanical parts using the appropriate hand tools. Aligns, adjusts and calibrates equipment according to specifications.
- Maintains and operates low-pressure steam boilers and air compressors.
- Ensures one’s safety and the safety of others while maintaining and repairing the equipment. Ensures that health and safety instructions and policies established by the organization are respected and applied while executing their tasks.
- Ensures that the premises are clean and orderly. Maintains maintenance records as required.
- Suggests ways and methods to improve the quality of products and services offered.
- Other duties as assigned.
The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 0-2 years of related work experience (automatic packaging equipment, electrical, mechanical and electronics).
- Reading, writing, and basic math skills required.
Preferred:
- Vocational/Technical (automation and manufacturing equipment repair and maintenance) preferred.
- CNC, PLC and working with electricity up to 480V preferred.
Other:
- Ability to perform tasks requiring several physical movements (kneeling, bending, throwing, etc.).
- Manual skills and preciseness.
- Good communication skills.
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 40 lbs.
- Time and priority management.
- Ability to make recommendations.
- Ability to learn to read/understand blueprints, equipment manuals, and industrial standards.
- Basic understanding and knowledge of Operations equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and react appropriately with shifting priorities and rapid change.
