Position Summary

The Applications Intern is responsible for developing custom reports / apps utilizing the PTC Windchill PLM and Tableau platform. The apps will provide business users with information from the STERIS PLM system, based on the PTC Windchill technology platform.  They will be responsible for gathering requirements, performing development and configuration, unit testing, documentation and assisting with deployment.            

 

The IT internship offers practical work experience and an introduction to new technologies such as PLM, Internet of Things (IoT) and Tableau. This internship will involve challenging opportunities, real technical projects, and interaction with staff. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the computer field. This internship provides an opportunity to gain experience with the technical operations of a Medical Devices Company.

Duties

Application Administration

  • Perform Installation and configuration of business applications.
  • Explore and create documents to details development, testing and publishing of custom reports/ applications on PLM (Windchill), Navigate ThingWorx and Tableau.
  • The candidate should have a strong interest in information technology
  • Knowledge of JavaScript, XML, JSON, Java as programming Language.
  • Comfortable working with Oracle / SQL server database.
  • Familiarity with Engineering Applications and business processes.
  • A strong desire to work with Tableau, Internet of Things (IoT) platform such as ThingWorx and PLM platform.

Miscellaneous

  • Must have ability to work independently as needed.
  • Support Work with IT teams on various projects as needed.
  • Excellent knowledge working with Windows, Solaris operating systems and the MS Office suite.
  • Knowledge of other various common software products such as Cisco VPN client, Remote Access Client, and McAfee Anti-Virus is very helpful.
  • Good knowledge of telecommunication tools – mobile phones, WebEx, Teams, etc.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills.

Education Degree

    Required Experience

    Course of study, and any minimum required courses. Also list minimum education level required (freshman, junior, undergraduate degree, etc):

    • Currently enrolled in Undergraduate/Graduate college with a major in Computer Science
    • Junior or Senior status with GPA 3.0 or above
    • Currently enrolled in or completed courses in databases, programming, SQL

     

    Skills and/or business competencies:

    • Programming knowledge and skills: Java, Python, JavaScript
    • Knowledge of SQL
    • Strong learning agility
    • Analytical
    • Team oriented
    • Communication skills (written and verbal)
