Summary
Finisher III performs various finishing operations including buffing, grinding, shaping and polishing on stainless steel healthcare equipment.
What You'll do as a Finisher III
- Utilize abrasive belts and wheels to grind/polish stainless steel healthcare products under minimal supervision. Proficient at all tasks within a cell, able to direct/coordinate tasks within the cell, resolve problems, able to communicate status to Supervisor and train others.
- Demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of grinding/polishing to achieve surface finish requirements per Quality Standards.
- Ability to perform grind/polish process across all product families.
- Inspect for unacceptable quality on healthcare products and correct all practices or processes that do not meet established standards.
- Maintain compliance standards and specifications for products using specified measurement tools and drawings.
- Follow all OSHA and company-specific guidelines for safety.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of 1 year of experience with machines, tools, equipment, including grinding machines and small tools for set up.
- Basic reading and writing (English); basic math skills. Minimal to moderate physical strength is needed.
- Ability to perform routine, repetitive operations while maintaining attention to detail.
- Must work well under general supervision; will be required to make some independent judgments concerning product quality and take necessary corrective action.
- Ability to learn new instruments, using written specifications or an approved sample.
- Ability to train others to follow established work instructions and assignments.
Preferred:
- Exposure to fabrication (welding, grinding, machining).
- Prior work requiring manual dexterity helpful but not necessary.
