Position Summary

The Financial Analyst I position is responsible for daily operations and maintenance of the Corporate Performance Management (CPM) system at STERIS and is a contact for the CPM system user community. This position also shares responsibility for gathering various financial and operational data, performing analysis, and reporting the results. Responsibilities also include assisting in the coordination, administration, and enhancement of planning processes.


Finance System Support – 90%

  • Responsible for general CPM system setup, time events, and hierarchy maintenance. This also includes a focus on optimizing system setup for performance/functionality to support the needs of various business groups and finance users. Provide new users with training and continuing education for current system users. The CPM Admin group is the primary contact for all user questions/issues.
  • Responsible for all aspects of CPM (Longview) system data population/validation/reconciliation to outside systems and internal variations of system information.
  • Assist in development and implementation of new system functionality and user facing applications. This will include working with the Information Technology department, conducting research, and making recommendations for improvement and enhancements as appropriate. Maintain a current understanding of the latest available and upcoming technologies.
  • Review results with finance members, working to identify issues and solutions.
  • Support internal Customers across overall as required.

Financial Accounting and Analysis – 10%

  • Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes in accordance with corporate guidelines and policies.
  • Measure actual performance results against forecast/plan/prior year and identify issues that require further action. Make recommendations for corporate strategy and process improvement to the responsible management team member(s).
  • Perform ad hoc reporting as requested for variety of needs throughout the Business.

Education Degree

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Coursework related to information systems preferred.
  • 0 -2 years of financial accounting, analysis and reporting
  • Knowledge and/or demonstrated use of business reporting and financial systems preferred (i.e. Oracle, Longview, Hyperion, Cognos, etc.).
  • Strong resolution and problem solving skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and business acumen. 
  • Strong skills in MS Excel and experience with the MS suite of products
  • Knowledge of and skilled in manipulating large amounts of data into meaningful information.
  • Ability to be a self-starter; excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail; ability to work as a team member, as well as independently; ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment; ability to successfully execute many tasks simultaneously.
  • Customer service orientation is mandatory.
  • Ability to develop, manage, and execute projects.
