The Engineering Manager leads and directs the Engineering Team within the Mentor Consumable manufacturing sites. You will be responsible for the prioritization, design, development and overall management of engineering projects and processes across 4 locations. You will provide general process and equipment support, including installation oversight. You will be responsible for Total Productive Maintenance leadership. You will also be responsible for the continuous improvements of engineering processes and overall execution of engineering activities.

What You Will Do

  • Direct the work of Engineers and engineering specialists that are responsible for general process and equipment support, including equipment installation oversight.
  • Facilitate communication and interaction among various functions to ensure understanding of critical deliverables and milestones. Develop the engineering functional plan / strategy and drive execution of established plan.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvements for assigned engineering group. Assess and develop associate training and development plans.
  • Drive smooth transitions across the organization from initial concept through development and project implementation and change control process.
  • Manage the department budget and operating plans. 
  • Deliver critical, timely communications to involved or impacted functions. Identify critical dependences, risks and contingency plans.  Proactively monitor progress, anticipating the effect of dependencies on schedule, project cost, etc.
  • Manage interactions with vendors, suppliers, contractors and consultants to assure engineering projects comply with designs and specifications.

What You Need To Be Successful

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering is highly preferred) and 8+ years' experience in a manufacturing and engineering environment
  • 5+ years' capital equipment experience
  • Experience managing an engineering team
  • Broad technical knowledge (mechanical, electrical, software, systems)
  • Experience in LEAN Methodologies and driving continuous improvement initiatives
  • Strong technical problem solving skills, attention to detail, planning and organizational skills
  • Prior experience working in a highly regulated environment.
  • Must have solid project management skills and have the ability to manage multiple, high priority situations at once. Experience successfully managing project changes or development through a rigorous engineering process (ie. design controls)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
