Position Summary

The Intern will gain experience in the Service Engineering and the duties around product service requirements, developing and implementing service programs and deliverables for aftermarket support.  This includes involvement in new product development to ensure products are designed for serviceability and service programs/ support are available at product release. Main deliverables include; parts, service procedures/processes, technical training and associated documentation. The Intern will also learn troubleshooting equipment problems, analysis of performance data, and service parts sourcing and support for field technicians. Data would be used to improve product reliability, improve service and reduce service cost over the life of a product

Essential Functions

  • Develop and analyze field and engineering data to assist in Service projects and improve product support.
  • Assist in investigating field issues to resolve immediate equipment problems and analyze root cause to help drive product design improvement and service routines/ process changes. 
  • Review electrical/plumbing schematics and equipment drawings/specifications to help with development of support tools, installation and service procedures and parts sourcing. 
  • Assist in providing technical and parts support to technicians in the field via a phone and possibly on-site. 

Skills & Requirements

  • Courses in electrical and/or mechanical Engineering; 2 yrs. of college completed working on a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Coursework in computer controls, application or programming.
  • Course in physics or thermo dynamics.
  • Drafting or courses in technical documentation focused on reading and using schematics and specifications for troubleshooting and parts sourcing.
  • Writing/communication courses - Technical writing course not required but a plus.
  • Excel skills should include experience with pivot tables and V-look up. 
  • Project management and data analysis courses a plus.
