Job Title: Director of Global Training -Sales and Professional Development

Position Summary
As Director of Training for the Life Sciences business, you will own the development, implementation and management of comprehensive, integrated training strategies and programs that drive a learning culture in support of achieving business results. Consulting with functional leadership to understand business priorities, you will design learning and development programs accordingly. You will also collaborate with employees, business leaders and human resources partners to create individual development plans that support our succession plans.
This is a remote position can be based anywhere in the contiguous United States. Candidate must live within 1 hour of an international airport.
Travel required: 25% Domestic + 25% International with the expectation to also travel to Corporate headquarters in Mentor, OH on a regular basis.
Duties
- Conduct a periodic needs assessment including the input of relevant stakeholders and available information sources such as the Talent Assessment and performance appraisals to identify the full life-cycle training requirements of our sales, commercial and service teams.
- Make proposals to business leaders to define resulting training needs and initiatives.
- Build knowledge and understanding of Life Sciences industry and Customers in order to deliver relatable/creditable training material.
- Identify training initiatives that will reduce by a meaningful amount the assimilation time of new sales associates
- Identify a metric and implement a tracking method to report on the success of these initiatives.
- Assist/collaborate with Marketing to deliver product/application training, including coaching trainers to improve effectiveness of delivery.
- Support the delivery of corporate leadership development programs targeted for selected sales or service leaders and individual contributor candidates identified in the Talent Assessment to support their movement to a leadership positions.
- Research/identify external training partners/resources to include in global training program curriculum and manage relationships with those outside resources.
- Collaborate with corporate Talent Development on LMS solution for housing training content, implementation of programs and tracking completion.
- Perform periodic review to maintain and update curriculum to preserve its relevancy along with evaluating the quality of instructors and materials.
- Ensure that a means to measure transfer of learning and performance improvement are included in any offering where skill improvement can be measured.
Required Experience/Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (i.e. Training/Development, OD, HR, Business, Education)
- 10+ years of hands on experience building and implementing development strategies and solutions with a focus on improving employee and leadership capability in a global company.
- 15+ years training development & delivery.
- Experience building a world class sales training program.
Preferred Experience
- MBA Bachelor’s degree in a related field (i.e. Training/Development, OD, HR, Business, Education)
- Prior Sales experience, consultative/technical
- Experience with global training.
- In-depth understanding of traditional and modern training methods (including workshops, simulations, e-learning and coaching).
- Experience building learning and development programs that drive business impact that is measurable.
- Expertly trained in training and facilitation.
- Experience working in the Life Sciences industry.

- Interpersonal skills necessary to influence across business leaders to secure priorities, direction and resources in a multiple-client environment.
- Resourceful leader who is inquisitive and creative in developing training strategies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent platform presentation, oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to grasp and learn basic-to-complex scientific and technical information to the extent necessary to develop training tools.
- A bias towards developing interactive, engaging training interventions that are relevant to multiple learning styles and a diverse generational STERIS workforce.
- Coaches others for growth and development and to grow team impact.
- Organized, identifies priorities and agile to shift direction or resources when needed.
