Position Summary

Our marketing team is growing! We are seeking a Director of Marketing Communications to provide leadership and program management to the marketing communications team.  You will lead the development of strategic objectives and execution of initiatives that form the global Life Sciences marketing communications strategy. In addition, you will lead the team’s marketing content development, creative efforts, digital marketing, analytical  and Customer-facing events activities.


This role provides cross-functional leadership with internal business functions to gain alignment in support of the global Life Sciences Business Imperatives, to understand and meet current Customer needs and new Customer acquisition goals and to drive new solutions and cross-selling within the full Life Sciences offering. You will also be responsible for global brand management activities.

  1. Marketing Strategy 
    1. Develop and execute Global Life Sciences marketing strategy.
    2.  Be a strategic partner with Sales Leadership, Customer Operations, Marketing Leadership, Technical Services and Product Management teams to best oversee creation of tools and materials.
    3. Support Corporate marketing strategies, including brand management, trademark and copyright protection enforcement.
    4. Identify and resolve issues and works collaboratively with peers to ensure successful execution of marketing strategies and product launches.
  2. Cross-Functional Support of Business Imperatives 
    1. Collaborate with Life Sciences leadership team to monitor industry events/news/trends and to identify market opportunities in support of the global technology-neutral Life Sciences offerings.
    2. Guide, direct and influence cross-functional groups in alignment with global business imperatives, STERIS-wide operational and branding initiatives, and the culture of Safety, Quality, Lean, Sustainability and Innovation.
    3. Play a key role in developing Life Sciences value propositions across Consumables, Equipment and Services portfolios.
  3. Marketing Team Leadership and Development 
    1. Directly manage and develops the global marketing communications teams by providing ongoing coaching, feedback and development plans.
    2. Establish and monitor marketing performance KPIs, budgets, and manages vendor relationships in support of the goals of
  4. Customer Facing and Focus 
    1. Directs Customer-focus and Customer satisfaction initiatives e.g. NPS surveys and global Customer-facing events, including managing budgets, timelines, branding, social media, advertising, etc.
    2. Direct downstream marketing programs including website development and maintenance.
Education Degree
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Marketing
Required Experience

Successful candidates should possess: 

  1. 12-15 years marketing and/or product management experience, preferably in a Life Sciences products or services environment
  2. Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s in Business Administration, Marketing, or a life sciences-related area (e.g. Chemistry, Microbiology, Engineering) is preferable.
  3. Demonstrated problem-solving, negotiation, analytical and project management skills
  4. Demonstrated strategic ability to plan, execute and achieve sales, profit requirements and associated performance metrics
  5. Proven organizational effectiveness across all related areas that impact their product line(s)
  6. High degree of technical aptitude and multi-tasking capability
  7. Excellent oral and written communications skills
  8. Demonstrated leadership qualities and interpersonal skills, with track record of successfully motivating cross functional teams
  9. Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
