Position Summary
The Design Engineering Co-op will be responsible for assisting with various design projects within a manufacturing setting. You will work with existing products to make design updates while integrating input from technical, manufacturing, quality, and other disciplines. Working with internal cross-functional teams, the position requires professionalism, dedication, and positive drive to ensure the completion of the projects in a time-sensitive, regulated environment.

What You'll Do as a Design Engineering Co-op
- Design and develop product improvements, specifically supporting new and current product lines.
- Utilize Creo to develop and change designs and document them.
- Integrate input from technical, manufacturing, quality, and other disciplines. Create and drive a design solution and all associated support documentation according to internal compliance.
- Plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope or several projects of smaller size/scope.
- Perform work which involves conventional engineering practice, but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design/process, quality and customer requirements. Work with internal team and external suppliers to resolve design, manufacturing, and quality issues.
- Creates/coordinates Bills of Material, mechanical assembly drawings, component drawings, and all other engineering documents required to support product line/upgrades. Processes/coordinates engineering changes and product documentation in a timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed
Required:
- Student pursuing Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering - Mechanical or Biomedical preferred. Sophomore year requirements must be completed by co-op start date.
- Basic experience in CAD software (Solidworks, Creo, AutoCAD, and/or equivalent)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Requires a fundamental understanding and application of mechanical engineering principles
Preferred:
- Previous coursework or experience in manufacturing
Other:
- Strong problem solving and clear written and oral communication skills required
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the specific ability to work in teams
- Preference is for candidate to return for multiple co-op rotations
Pay range for this opportunity is $18-25/hr.
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
