This is a FULLY REMOTE position.  Work from home anywhere you choose in the continental U.S. during EST business hours

The Data Governance Architect is responsible for development and implementation of enterprise data governance frameworks. This individual will work closely with stakeholders to discover and model the organization's information inventory with a focus on data availability, usability, consistency, integrity and security. This will include formulating technology programs, strategies, policies and procedures over a wide variety of data-intensive functions.  This will include Reporting, Analytics, Insights generation, Data Science, Operations and related areas. The Data Governance Architect will work with a variety of data types such as Structured and unstructured data, Master data, Operational data, Real-time data and Dark data both on-premise and in the cloud. This role will be a key contributor in enable managing data as a strategic asset and drive true insights-based decision making.

 

Duties

Data Governance: 50%

  1. Develops roadmap, policy and procedures to ensure consistency in how data is sourced and used across STERIS to ensure data quality and integrity.
  2. Identifies, maps, documents and increases visibility of enterprise data for Reporting, Analytics and Data Science solutions using STERIS data architecture guidelines.
  3. Works with STERIS business stakeholders to develop, implement, maintain and propagate STERIS-wide data management policies, standards and guidelines related to data assets.
  4. Builds and deploys communication plans for data consumers so they are aware of data governance standards and available resources for accurate reporting of STERIS data
  5. Develops a centralized metadata and classification repository for data assets that can be systematically used with confidence in business applications across STERIS
  6. Fosters communication and knowledge exchange among data governance practitioners across the company
  7. Operationalizes roadmap to embrace and leverage Enterprise Information Management using relevant technologies across the enterprise.
  8. Writes functional governance specifications for data related processes, workflows, architectures, business rules, and interfaces.
  9. Creates design specification documents for governance and Enterprise Information Management in consultation with internal customers.
  10. Advocates data use and data protection practices for Data Governance in partnership with STERIS Information Security Office

 

Duties - cont'd

Master Data Management: 50%

  1. Partners with business stakeholders to develop a Master Data Management program and develops a technology implementation plan for key data elements across applications and databases.
  2. Aligns MDM deliverables with STERIS strategic vision by clarifying what, why and how trusted master data contributes to business or mission value.
  3. Manages and ensures that all Master Data Management processes incorporate Data Governance standards.
  4. Implements Master Data Management standards, enables data governance procedures and ensures data integrity across multiple platforms.
  5. Partners with data stewards, sponsors and stakeholders to implement business processes and policies that will support a successful MDM roll out and ongoing program sustainment.
  6. Oversees data profiling of data attributes, values, fields, and business rules, and determine integration strategies.
  7. Measures progress toward business goals by creating clear MDM program metrics, setting a baseline and linking these metrics to business benefit and data value metrics.
  8. Performs fit/gap analysis of business requirements against current or target solutions and leads business requirements and technical design discussions as subject matter expert.
  9. Partners with Data and Analytics team to identify and document proper derivation logic for measures and aggregations of data.
  10. Works closely with the technical architecture team in delivering end-to-end solution Initiates, co-leads data intensive projects related to MDM across the corporation, in functional and business areas.

Required Experience

Note: these experience requirements may be concurrent

  1. 7 or more years of IT and/or relevant Data Governance experience;
    1. Data Quality, Reference Data, Master Data, Metadata, Practices, Catalog, Classification and Glossary development
    2. Experience with Master Data Management, data modeling & data architecture.
    3. Experience in with Cloud based Data Lakes, Structured and unstructured data, software development
  2. 2 or more years of experience with a commercial ERP environment; Oracle preferred.
  3. General knowledge of processes, procedures and best practices surrounding data backup and recovery, archiving, replication and similar tasks.
