Position Summary
The Data Analyst, Internal Audit Intern will be responsible for planning, organizing, and executing analytics related to internal audits throughout STERIS (including IT, financial, operational, compliance, quality and fraud). The role will assist in development of sustainable and repeatable data analytics processes to provide real time audit assurance to the business and improve audit efficiency. This position will assist in the development of analytics and strategy for the Internal Audit department and will collaborate with Internal Audit management and business functions within the organization to improve control, create efficiency, and add value to the business.

- Work Environment: Remote - candidates will need to be within commuting distance of Mentor office for onsite events as needed
What You'll Do as a Data Analyst, Internal Audit Intern
- Develops an understanding of business and data requirements, and design visualizations for initial concepts and prototypes that can be presented to Internal Audit and the business.
- Assists in data analysis (determine data structures, content, and quality of the data through examination of source systems)
- Assists in the creation of data visualizations (reports and dashboards) using Tableau as required.
- Enhances the efficiency of internal controls by development of reporting and analytics of planning, sampling, and testing.
- Contributes innovative ideas to continuously improve the audit methodology and audit procedures including the strategic deployment of technology to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of audit procedures.
- Partners with the Internal Audit team members to develop and deliver a data analytics strategy in all phases of the audit process including risk assessment process, planning and scoping, fieldwork and reporting.
- Work with Internal Audit colleagues to understand audit processes, business risk and continuously improve the department.
- Identify and resolve data quality/integrity issues
- Troubleshoot Business Intelligence and Analytics tools, systems and software; performance-tune applications as necessary.
The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed
Required:
- Currently enrolled in a four-year undergraduate degree program or a master’s program in General Business or Information Technology fields, such as Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Internal Audit, Information Technology or other quantitative fields of study.
- Sophomore year requirements completed by program start - junior or senior year candidates preferred
Preferred:
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Exposure to Tableau
Other:
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
Pay rate for this opportunity is $20/hr
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
