Position Summary

The Technical Equipment Demonstration Manager is responsible for the management of the Operating Room Integration (ORI) Customer demonstration program and ORI systems at Customer demonstration events (mock rooms and tradeshows) in support of the Surgical business commercial strategy and Healthcare’s Customer facing trade shows.  This role plays an integral role in the execution of mock rooms, with the ability to manage everything on-site for these events from set up to tear down, as well as planning and implementing all ORI software for demonstration at these events.  This role requires immense technical knowledge and expertise in the ORI product category as well as the Surgical equipment portfolio, ensuring the STERIS product inventory is maintained in top Customer-facing condition with strategic focus on specific products by customer.  The Technical Equipment Demonstration Manager also offers marketing and Customer insight to ensure continuous improvement and the best demonstration outcome for Customers.

What You Will Do

Customer Events – 70%

  • Independently with little supervision manages the OR video integration Customer demonstration program across the US & Canada including a fleet of ORI demo units and the hardware and software required to enable the system, ensuring the highest quality product in support of Field Sales for Customer-facing demonstration opportunities (30-40 ORI demos annually)
  • Defines the ORI equipment plans for tradeshows to exceed show and business objectives, manages the planning and implementation, facilitates logistics, supports on-site set up and tear down
  • Leads technical event installations, leading cross functional teams, project management, and technical service support
  • Supports the Field Sales organization in the execution of Customer mock rooms.  Responsible for all mock room ORI technical demonstration activities.
  • Directs and implements on-site mock room set up and tear down, including managing contract labor within the given timeframe and site specifications
  • Understands set up and installation requirements of the Surgical equipment portfolio
  • Applies independent judgment to make wise and sensible decisions regarding the installation project plan or unforeseen issues, and execution in a fast, efficient, and diplomatic manner
  • Sources vendors to support events, including the facilitation of RFPs for shipping and on-site contract labor
  • Manages vendors appropriately from scheduling through invoicing
  • Keeps accurate financial records on inventory, events, costs, expenses, including ROI

    Technical Expertise & Equipment Management – 30%

  • Manages ORI inventory life cycle, working with the business to strategically plan for inventory enhancements and needs, ensuring accurate inventory information and precise financial management of equipment
  • Builds, designs, maintains and supports mobile and custom Customer ORI demonstration kits. Supports all technical equipment requirements.
  • Demonstrates hands-on technical, mechanical and electronic skills
  • Maintains expert knowledge of the ORI systems technically and functionally, ensuring all systems are prepared to demonstrate the latest technology and features.
  • Drives relentless focus and attention to technical issues or solutioning that is required to ensure the ORI demo systems are Customer-ready
  • Adapts to various work environments – warehouse, customer facility’s, convention centers, construction sites, etc.
  • Practices safe forklift operation and training
  • Manages inventory and warehouse space according to the lean 5S model

What You Will Need To Be Successful

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or related field
  • Minimum 7 year(s) professional experience in business, marketing or related technical field
  • 3 year(s) experience in event or tradeshow planning; Customer-facing events
  • Expert level technical and functional knowledge of the STERIS OR Integration systems
  • Technical and functional knowledge of STERIS Surgical equipment
  • Experience managing vendors
  • Proficiency with MS Office Applications (Word, Excel); Oracle experience a plus
  • Maintains expert knowledge of the ORI systems technically and functionally, ensuring all systems are prepared to demonstrate the latest technology and features.
  • Drives relentless focus and attention to technical issues or solutioning that is required to ensure the ORI demo systems are Customer-ready
  • Adapts to various work environments – warehouse, customer facility’s, convention centers, construction sites, etc.
  • Practices safe forklift operation and training
