Position Summary

Contract Specialist is responsible for all maximizing the closed sale value for all contract renewals and warranty conversions, coordinating and maintaining new business pipelines for assigned service districts and enhancing of value propositions & objection handling techniques for contract revenue generation. Incumbent manages the renewal and warranty conversion opportunities through STERIS’s and the Customer’s processes, escalating issues to field leadership and coordinating field service resources activities as needed to achieve targeted closure rates.




Required Experience

1. Two (2) years’ experience in business service, customer service andor accounting environment, preferably working with contracts. 

2. Demonstrated knowledge of various types of contracts and proficiency in creating and maintaining them on a database in addition to understanding legal terms and conditions of contracts and purchase orders strongly preferred. 

3. 2 (two years) experience as a STERIS District Support Rep preferred. 

4. Demonstrated proficiency with Oracle/Siebel business application preferred. 

5. Two (2) years’ experience with service contract software and CRM systems strongly preferred. 

6. Must have PC experience with working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite with demonstrated proficiency in Word and Excel. 

7. Two (2) years’ experience with Inside Sales or Customer Service Experience strongly preferred which demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively over the phone. 

8. Demonstrated effective analytical, documentation, organizational, and written and oral communication skills. 

9. Demonstrated ability to answer detailed and complex questions regarding reports, billing, and departmental functions. 

10. Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with other departments and to utilize them as a resource as needed. 

11. Must be available for established work shift with excellent attendance record.



Education Degree

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Associate's Degree in Business or General Studies



Renewals & Warranty Conversions: 
1. Responsible for reviewing expired agreement, evaluating upsell opportunities, assessing continued business opportunity at account 
2. Contacting the customer to maximize the size of the renewal agreement 
3. Partnering with key business stakeholders including service management, field service technicians, sales 
4. Developing and delivering quotes to the Customer 
5. Follow-up with Customer, objection handling, escalation to field leadership 
6. Coding and evaluating losses

New Business Pipeline 
1. Coordinate the account strategy with District Servcie Manager to maximize new business opportunities 
2. Track progress for new business throughout the sales pipeline 
3. Position value proposition service agreements with cost 
4. Objection handling

Enhancing our value proposition 
1. Review expiring agreements – price, coverage types, upsale opportunities, warranty conversions 
2. Prepare quotes, contact Customer with proposals
