Position Summary

This position is responsible for assisting in the plan design and overall management of the calculations of over 50 field incentive plans, totaling over $20mm a year in payouts.  In addition, this position is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payouts and compliance with all approved incentive plan designs.  Additional responsibilities include: quota management, reporting, managing plan changes, and staff development and training.

Duties

Essential Job Functions

1.    Plan Design
•    Establish and publish a timeline (providing ongoing updates) for  business groups, defining roles, deliverables, due dates and status updates
•    Work with each business partner, finance, HR and field to discuss plan design objectives; e.g., what behaviors do we want to drive.
•    When necessary, work with outside consultants and provide detailed information and analysis of current and proposed plans
•     Critique components of  current plan (what works/doesn’t)
•    Brainstorm parameters for new plan
•    Address consistency issues across STERIS and alignment with corporate financial objectives and measurements
•    Complete numerous modeling scenarios for review and discussion
•    Finalize plan design
•    Ensure Business Heads obtain appropriate approvals 
•    Publish plans

2.    Quota Management
•    Assist Business partners in developing quotas and work with the Finance team to ensure alignment with business plan numbers
•    Establish and maintain a quota data base by business 
•    Distribute individual quotas to employees and/or management
•    Update and adjust quotas based on business issues, as required 

3.    Payout Process
•    Work with IT to define initial set up parameters and system requirements for each plan.  This includes defining what components of the oracle data base need to be incorporated into the system, program change requirements, changes in the data load for each plan.  
•    Manage the calculation process for monthly, quarterly and annual bonus  payouts of all field incentive plans, ensuring timely and accurate payouts
•    Ensure accuracy and integrity of 2.5mm records that are loaded into the incentive system data base each month.
•    Investigate, follow up and respond to field inquiries regarding incentive payouts/calculations and sales reporting.
•    For a defined business group(s), complete the calculations for the respective plan(s).  This includes: reviewing sales data to ensure accuracy of reporting and completing manual adjustments.
•    Submit files to the appropriate payroll processing entities

4.    Managing plan changes and exceptions
•    Maintain, document, obtain approvals and update system on any plan changes.
•    For any exception request, review detail, recommend appropriate action and obtain approvals.
•    For any personnel change (promotion, new hire, transfer or termination), manually complete appropriate commission in compliance with current incentive plan document.
•    For product and service promotions, complete initial cost modeling, review options and based on approved promo, provide appropriate payouts.   

5.    Reporting
•    Complete various ranking and summary reports for each business on a monthly and quarterly basis.
•    Provide the accounting team information on actual payouts and amounts to be accrued, by business unit, including forecasting future incentive payouts.
•    Complete ad hoc reports, as requested, e.g., average payouts, performance history and product sales.
•    Provided special reports as required from internal and/or external audits as well as assist with on-site audit activity as required.

6.    Staff Management and Training
•    Provide day-to-day management, ensuring employees can effectively perform their role and department goals are achieved.
•    Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to improve individual performance and overall effectiveness, while exceeding department expectations and standards of performance.
•    Provide training and guidance as required, ensuring appropriate use and understanding of incentive reporting.

Required Experience

Experience Requirements

7-10 years experience in accounting and/or compensation plan design as well as administration.  This must include a minimum of 2-3 years of experience working with commissioned sales plans.
