Position Summary

As a Commercial Fleet Manager at STERIS, you will be responsible for managing a fleet of 350 commercial vehicles with an annual spend of approximately $10M. Responsibilities include managing and developing fleet policies and procedures, directing the day-to-day operations of the STERIS IMS fleet program, managing fleet vendors and new vehicle procurement, and ensuring DOT compliance. You will also provide supervision, oversight and management of 1 employee, the Fleet Administrator.

 

This is a remote based position and can be located anywhere in the US.

What you’ll do as a Commercial Fleet Manager

  • The majority of your time will be spent in Fleet Commercial Program Management.
  • Create/update/enforce fleet policy and procedures to manage fleet operation, driver accountability, and internal governance.
  • Manage driver support, maintenance, fuel consumption, safety/accident management, vehicle disposal, and other aspects of fleet operation.
  • Maintain all historical databases and records relative to fleet drivers such as training, driver qualification files, citations, incidents and actions.
  • Evaluate, create, distribute, and publish monthly key performance indicators to STERIS senior management, broken down by division and business group, or as directed.
  • Respond to requests from management relative to fleet operations, performance, benchmarks, history and policies.
  • In collaboration with finance, prepare fleet budget, track expense performance, evaluate funding mechanism, and perform lease vs. buy analysis.
  • Analyze data to discern patterns, discrepancies, and opportunities for process improvements and cost management initiatives.
  • Provide vehicle data to internal risk management department for annual policy renewal.
  • Work with newly acquired organizations to integrate them into STERIS infrastructure and to provide appropriate resources to the newly acquired company vehicle drivers.

What you’ll do as a Commercial Fleet Manager - Continued

  • Maintain and ensure DOT regulatory compliance. You will manage DOT regulatory compliance for commercial vehicles (includes monitoring, reporting, and ensuring compliance for all requirements).
  • Manage fleet vendors and new vehicle procurement. You will manage vehicle and component ordering and delivery.
  • Work directly with commercial truck suppliers and outside vendors for upfitting. Act as primary contact with outside fleet administration providers and leasing company(s). Negotiate contracts, approve payments, and conduct quarterly fleet reviews with North American Fleet Management companies.
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure production schedules are met to match vehicle replacements and vehicle additions to support new business.
  • Conduct regular periodic regional global reviews of primary suppliers and drives improvements in service delivery through ongoing measurement against established goals and best in class metrics.
  • Use the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) model to analyze and determine what vehicles to purchase/lease, and how they are to be equipped.
  • Initiate and effectively manage any RFP’s (Request for Proposal) related to fleet service providers.

The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree combined with 5-7 years of fleet management experience
  • In lieu of Bachelor’s degree, must have high school diploma or GED combined with 3-5 years of fleet management experience
  • At least 2 years of management experience performing a full range of activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for dismissal
  • Must have working knowledge of DOT compliance requirements

 

Preferred:

  • Multi state fleet management experience strongly preferred

Pay range for this opportunity is $90,737.50 - $117,425.00. This position is eligible for bonus participation. 

 

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed.  Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
