CNC Programmer is responsible for the creation and revision of numerical control programs for the machining of parts. Duties include developing and debugging programs, specifying tooling, resolving shop machining issues, monitoring active jobs, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. 

  1. Establish the optimum CNC/NC process with regards to machine selection, fixturing and tooling.
  2. Determine the ideal speeds, feeds, inserts and tooling to ensure manufacturing consistency.
  3. Review and coordinate with tooling vendors pricing and availability of tooling requests for CNC machines.
  4. Assist manufacturing engineers with fixtures and planning of new product lines or revised products lines.
  5. Establish and maintain excellent and appropriate documentation as prescribed by standard operating procedures and part setup sheets.
  6. Develop and revise as necessary CNC machine tool programs.
  7. Work with Quality team on inspection processes and procedures.
  8. Develop and maintain part routing, cycle time and raw material standards in ERP system.
  9. Evaluate and implement Operator suggestions for program improvements.
  10. Participate in kaizen events and other Lean initiatives to improve efficiency and eliminate waste.

Education Degree

  • High School Diploma or GED

Required Experience

  1. Certification in CNC programming, engineering technology, industrial engineering or equivalent experience.
  2. Five (5) to eight (8) years CNC Programming experience and up to five (5) axis machining experience.

Preferred Experience

  1. Experience with Pro-Engineer (Pro-E)/Creo is strongly preferred.
  2. Experience with Mastercam, Esprit or similar programming software is strongly preferred.
  3. Experience in high level languages and CAD/CAM applications.
  4. Basic drafting and simple 3-D modeling experience a plus.
  5.  Demonstrated experience in trouble shooting software.
  6. Familiarity in writing macro programs a plus.
  7. At least 2 years’ experience working in a metal fabrication environment.
  8. Press brake programming experience a plus.
