Position Summary


The VHP Buyer is responsible for the purchase of assigned commodities to meet production and internal needs. The VHP Buyer will identify and select Suppliers, negotiate prices and terms, establish and manage relationships with designated Suppliers, manage the purchasing cycle, and address Supplier quality issues.
 

Duties

  • Manages relationships with Suppliers for PO execution, including managing scheduling changes and cancelations (managing shop capacity data, schedule capabilities, field support availability, etc.).  
  • Secures and analyzes quotations from qualified Suppliers, negotiates prices and terms with Suppliers, and recommends Suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness.  
  • Interfaces with the Manufacturing, Scheduling, Field Engineering, and Finance as required.  
  • Analyzes usage of inventory and adjusts ordering requirements as necessary.  
  • Negotiate and facilitate the return of rejected and obsolete material, and reviews and clears problem packing lists and/or purchase orders.   

 

Education Degree

  • Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience

Minimum of one (1) year experience in procurement position preferably in a manufacturing environment.

  • Solid understanding of industry and commodity.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word and Excel. Direct hands on experience in an MRP system environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.

  • Strong negotiation skills: ability to reach agreement while avoiding conflict / dispute. Able to achieve favorable outcome for STERIS.
