Position Summary

The Associate Planner (Associate Medical Equipment Planner) reviews and prepares drawings and other documents related to planning and project activities under the direct guidance of senior personnel. He/She is responsible for accuracy, appearance and quality of work. 


  • Prepare or revise sketches, detailed drawings, and other documents depicting STERIS planning recommendations using equipment specifications, drawings and related material.
  • Prepare dimensioned equipment location, electrical, and mechanical drawings identifying equipment position, clearances, and services using Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit Software.
  • Develop sketches prepared by senior personnel into finished drawings.      
  • Develop ability to recognize discrepancies within assignments and alert senior personnel.
  • Work with senior personnel in reviewing and identifying project requirements such as architect’s plans/specifications, customer’s purchase orders, and STERIS equipment drawing. 
  • All contact outside the department is through senior personnel unless otherwise authorized by manager. Develop familiarity with other STERIS departments as related to Planning.
  • All work must be completed at the direction of the Design Group Leader regarding completeness, accuracy, presentability and conformance to Company and department standards within stated time limits.
  • Responsible for efficient utilization and care of Company equipment, facilities, and supplies.
  • Willingness to learn new software skills, packages as necessary. 

Required Experience

  • Minimum requirement Autodesk Certification (in CAD and/or Revit) or equivalent experience using Autodesk products. 
  • Associate Degree or Trade Certificate in Architectural Design preferred. 
  • Must be able to perform general tasks on a daily basis with minimal supervision.
  • Must have experience working with Autodesk AutoCAD software.
  • Experience working with Autodesk Revit software is preferred.
  • Experience doing space planning and workflow is preferred.
  • Experience working in 3D drafting software preferred.
