Position Summary

Coordinates all Tool Room activities under the direction of Tool Room Manager.  Is responsible for 100% set-up of equipment and produces parts to print for injection molds


  1. Set up and operation of all standard machining and equipment including but not limited to: lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, EDM, etc.
  2. Fix and assemble components to ensure molds are production ready.
  3. Receives work instructions and prepares and operates equipment in accordance with instructions.
  4. Verifies, trouble shoots, and resolves machine issues as they arise.
  5. Ability to fabricate and repair precision molds and components.
  6. Monitors the quality of own work being produced and conducts own inspections, documenting work as required.
  7. Actively seeks out process improvements and communicates appropriately.
  8. Moves materials to appropriate location for pick up to the next work station.
  9. Performs daily clean up, maintenance, and 5s work within area of responsibility.
  10. Complies with all regulatory, safety, policies and standards requirements.
  11. Performs PMs on equipment as defined; takes down and services molds for production as required
  12. Helps maintain and execute Work Order System.

Education Degree

High School Diploma or GED

Required Experience

  1. Journeyman Mold Maker with at least 7-10 years of mold making experience.
  2. Experience with fixture making and tool and die work.
  3. Knowledge of calculations for speeds, feeds and tooling
  4. Must be able to read and interpret blue prints
  5. Must be proficient in using measuring instruments (e.g. micrometers, calipers) to inspect own work in accordance with specifications and requirements.
  6. Experience in a lean, continuous improvement environment.
  7. Knowledge of various types of metals.
  8. Previous experience working in the medical field is preferred.
  9. Strong mathematical aptitude.
  10. Demonstrated ability to use tool room equipment and machines.
