Position Summary
Software Integration Engineer is responsible for implementing STERIS ORI software products accurately and effectively within hospital enterprise network environments. SIE will execute technical aspects of software implementation, including comprehensive server setup, configuration, test, and updates while maintaining a focus on product security. SIE resolves field issues and engages with Customer representatives to facilitate technical discussions, planning, and provide necessary technical and scope oversight. Their expertise in Unix/Linux systems, combined with their scripting skills, allows them to solve complex problems and improve workflow automation for STERIS.
SIEs will exhibit excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills. They adapt readily to evolving technologies, possess a passion for continuous learning, and a dedication to quality and improvement. They are proactive, self-motivated, and possess strong analytical and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Note: This is a hybrid role (3-days onsite) for Mentor Ohio STERIS Headquarters.
What You'll Do As A Software Integration Engineer
- Performs STERIS ORI product deployments and updates. This role involves configuring, installing, monitoring, and supporting various STERIS information management products, while also addressing Customer inquiries related to cybersecurity and IT setups.
- Resolves field issues through systematic analysis of problems into root causes and mitigation.
- Supports end-to-end System testing and troubleshooting.
- Generates Implementation Instruction and troubleshooting documentation. Generate any downstream support documentation and provide training to service engineering.
- Collects networking information from the Customer in collaboration with the project manager.
- Configures enterprise Operating Room Integration system features at the application level.
- Performs add-ons, including device, room, and campus add-ons to an existing enterprise suite.
- Performs field validation testing and ensures the overall success of the software integration into the Customer environment.
- Works directly with Customers and internal team members, collects, analyzes, and summarizes assigned field escalations caused by software bugs or development issues.
- Documents root cause and corrective action within escalated tickets.
The Experience, Skills, and Abilities Needed
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree (4-year accredited degree) in software engineering, Computer science, electrical engineering, or related engineering/technology field.
- 3+ years of direct experience in software development, shell scripting, or Linux system administration
- Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix Operating systems. Must be fluent at using the Linux command line to execute GNU and Unix commands on Linux topics such filesystems, monitor system processes, managing permissions/ownership and maintaining system security.
- Proficient in creating, managing, and maintaining cronjobs for system scheduled tasks.
- Proficient in writing and debugging bash scripts. Proven ability to test scripts in various environments with strong knowledge of security best practices in scripting.
- Familiarity and working knowledge of using Ansible.
- Strong experience in interpreting, analyzing, and managing system logs to identify any system performance and operations issue.
- Strong understanding of system performance, process monitoring, and alerts.
- Works closely with DevOps teams to improve deployment and implementation processes.
- Experience in Docker architecture with an understanding of containerization principles, including running, and managing Docker containers and images is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with hospital IT and clinical environments and concepts, EMRs, HL7, PACS systems, VNAs, HIPAA and OR Integration Systems is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of Networking, especially around network components, topologies, including TCP/IP, certificate/key management, accessing remote systems via VPN and/or similar protocols.
- RedHat system administration certificate (RHCSA), CompTIA Linux+, or similar Linux Certification is a plus.
