Position Summary

The Database Administrator reviews, evaluates, designs, implements and maintains company database[s]. Identifies data sources, constructs data decomposition diagrams, provides data flow diagrams and documents the process. Writes codes for database access, modifications, and constructions including stored procedures.  Supports the environment twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.


Application Performance:
1.    Monitors software subset-systems to detect potential database problems. Investigates, troubleshoots, and evaluates production database problems. Recommends and implements approved solutions.   
2.    Writes, tests, and implements operating system scripts and procedures to automate various Oracle/Siebel functions and processes.
3.    Assists in managing and maintaining database backups.
4.    Performs Oracle database and Oracle application upgrades:
5.    Performs Siebel application upgrades.

Data Integrity: 
1.    Monitors, assesses, and controls system capacity to ensure data integrity on all systems.
2.    Coordinates development, testing, and implementation of database systems to meet database capacity standards and sizing objectives.
3.    Plans and monitors assigned projects and communicates project progress.
4.    Writes, maintains, and files necessary system documentation and procedures.

Customer Service:
1.    Reviews daily performance reports to maintain and improve the utilization of Oracle Applications.     
2.    Serves as primary liaison with business units and manages requests and updates on a regular basis to end-users and software Customers.  

Education Degree

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science

Required Experience

1.    Minimum three (3) to five (5) years experience in design, modeling, developing, administration, programming, and supporting large RDBMS (Relational database management system). Will accept minimum of six (6) years database experience or five (5) progressive STERIS IT experience and responsibility in lieu of degree. 
2.    Experience programming in SQL and PL/SQL, including optimization of SQL and
3.    Experience in Oracle ERP 11i – Financials and Order Management preferred. 
4.    Proficiency in RDBMS (Relational database management system, Oracle 8i, and 9i) and specific middleware tools:  EcoTools, Data Browser, Enterprise Manager.
5.    Experience in the design of data extract, migration, and queuing facilities.
6.    Experience in database concepts/design/deployment, recovery techniques, performance monitoring and tuning.
7.    Knowledge using Version Control tools to manage structural changes.
8.    Knowledge of server-side development issues: Triggers, stored procedures, and packages.
