STERIS is currently on the hunt for a IoT Technical Architect to help lead our organization into our next phase of service and product excellence. As an IoT Technical Architect you will be at the forefront of innovation connecting our equipment, services teams, and customers to real time data, diagnostics, and usage statistics, more than ever before! What are the Role Responsibilities?

  • Design technical architecture for activities, including those supporting Internet of Things applications.
  • Provide advanced competency in supporting the IT Architecture team.  
  • Participate in needs analysis and requirements gathering sessions with business users and IT specialists. 
  • Assist in the creation of technology architecture documents; manipulates data; designs, codes, and tests software and systems; and configures infrastructure components. 
  • Provide overall direction, guidance and definition of enterprise architecture solutions.
  • Provide technical and architectural leadership on various business and enterprise applications. Works with architecture, development, and infrastructure teams to produce an optimal, high level, conceptual design for the project.
  • Define application technology strategy and architecture to ensure alignment with technology industry standards, application technology roadmap, and business needs.
  • Research emerging technologies and solutions to solve current and future project problems. 
  • Recommend changes in process, policies, and standards as they relate to the architecture and design principles.
  • Responsible for defining technical evaluation criteria for product and technology selection and determining technical approaches to ensure all architectural solutions result in a coherent systems design.
  • Lead business analyses and manages small projects.
  • Perform software engineering and administration tasks, including those support of Internet of Things applications.
  • Lead Testing & Validation Efforts.
  • Stay current with applicable technologies, attends conferences and conducts training as required.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Other duties as required.

What Education, Skills, Requirements and Experience is needed?

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Analytics, IT, or related field required
  • 10+ years of professional IT experience, including the following (specific experiences can be concurrent): 
  • 7+ of relevant software development experience 
  • 7+ years using data interchange methods, including XML, JSON, RESTful, and SOAP 
  • 6+ years of experience developing software that interacts with relational databases 
  • 4+ years of experience with HTML, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and mobile development 
  • 4+ years of business and systems analysis experience preferred
  • 3+ years of software quality assurance and validation experience preferred.
  • Experience with Agile project management methodologies 
  • Architecture experience required must include System Integration and platform integration
  • Experience identifying, creating or working with industry standard protocols, software for mobile and industrial/manufacturing IoT a plus,
  • Must have hands-on leadership on large-scale full cycle, complex project implementations with emphasis delivering new data platforms from initial concept and architecture through implementation
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented design and design patterns and their application.
  • Deep Knowledge and experience with Cloud Technologies (Microsoft Azure, etc).
  • Exposure to/experience with Big Data and data analytics a plus
  • Ability to challenge at all levels of the project and with stakeholders to ensure objectives are met
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a cross functional team
  • Positive attitude with passion for growth, can-do approach to obstacles
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
