Position Summary

The Region Director of Sales is accountable for achieving the sales quota, profitability and marketing objectives of STERIS Endoscopy products (physician products/capital equipment/consumables) within a multi-state geography while operating with the Company polies/procedures and expense budget. He/she is accountable for hiring, managing and developing sales personnel within the region, and implements sales programs designed to increase sales. He/she plans, prioritizes, coordinates and reports on all sales-related and in-service activities within his/her assigned region. Duties

  • Develops and implements business plans under the Direction of the AVP Sales. Achieves sales quotas by driving sales team to deliver above market share growth through product sales introductions in assigned territory.  Implements sales strategies and tactics for region, promoting products to existing and new customers through STERIS Endoscopy Sales Team.
  • Establishes and develops rapport with key physicians (Endoscopy) in and out of region. Engages with admin level customers (hospital and surgery centers) to lead and manage positive and productive relationships.  Provides timely and meaningful customer reviews.
  • Recruits, hires, trains and manages an effective sales growth orientated team. (Account Managers, Capital Specialists).   Maintains routine and robust lines of communications, field rides, management support, leadership performance and development of each team member. Conduct routine performance reviews (field ride evaluations) that are both qualitative and quantitative with each team member as well as AVP of Sales.
  • Establish territory targets as required. Meet or exceed, region sales targets to ensure achievement of the U.S. sales budget.
  • Manage customer pricing for STERIS Endoscopy products in the region within established guidelines, to ensure delivery of gross profit margins.
  • Assist and work with Strategic Accounts Director(s) and VP of Strategic Accounts to identify and establish purchasing contracts with regional purchasing groups, hospital / surgical center buying groups, and Integrated Delivery Networks.
  • Develop short and long-range region goals and objectives (in conjunction with management peers) that align with the strategic growth plans of STERIS Endoscopy in the US.

  • Identify and communicate new business and/or product enhancement opportunities. Lead activities to capitalize on new sales and business development opportunities within the region.
  • As often as needed, provide updates/information and direction to the regional team regarding new developments, competitive activity, new products or any other topic that may have an impact on the regional business.
  • Monitor and report competitive activity within the region.
  • Communicate with STERIS Endoscopy internal management on region activities, regional concerns and competitive activity. Agree to and implement changes in objectives or sales-support programs resulting from current market conditions.
  • Assure compliance with all STERIS Endoscopy policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, sales, or marketing or equivalent training in business or sales management. MBA preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of successful sales experience in medical device sales and demonstrated success with Leadership initiatives and results.
  • Proven success in achieving sales objectives in a variety of distribution structures and product segments.
  • Understands various sales strategies in order to capitalize on opportunities and competitive threats.
  • Strong analytical capability to understand deal profitability and problem solving.
  • Possess excellent time management, communication, decision-making, human relations, presentation, and organization skills.
  • Creates a trusting, collaborative, and ethical work environment.
  • Maintain the highest standards of quality, compliance and accountability.
  • Required to travel approximately up to 80%
