Position Summary

Overall operational responsibility for directing the growth and ongoing development of the California markets for the North American IMS and and offsite instrument sterilization business. Plans, organizes, directs, and controls the activities of the business operations. Travel required.


1.    Overall responsibility for the development and execution of short and long term objectives, budgets, forecasts, policies, and operations of the IMS and HSS onsite and offsite instrument sterilization business.  
2.    Provide leadership to a business with at least 2 primary Customers, some with multiple clinic locations, 2 offsite sterilization locations, and over 150 employees.
3.    Develop and execute policy and procedures for IP outsourced operations.
4.    Orchestrate, direct, develop, and coordinate IP outsourced management and staff team.
5.    Develop operational and related requirements for new facility agreements in close coordination with the Vice President and General Manager, IP Division.
6.    Ensure all site Leaders are tracking and managing the KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) for their respective accounts wihle also driving the implementation of the STERIS IMS Way KPI’s.
7.    Manage expectations and communications with all IP outsourced Customers.
8.    Maintain professional relationships with all contracted facilities departments, as necessary and within contractual guidelines, to ensure effective, efficient support to the patient caregivers as it relates to the scope of the agreement – increased level of instrument readiness.
9.    Oversee the hiring and retention of best qualified managers and team members.  
10.    Ensure JCAHO / Audit Compliance at all facilities.
11.    Develop and execute the IP business strategy and plan with the Vice President and General Manager, IP Division.
12.    Ensure P&L goals achieved.
13.    Ensure communication processes and infrastructure is in place and followed.
14.    Other duties as assigned.

Education Degree

Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience

1.    Bachelors degree required.  MBA or advanced degree preferred.
2.    15+ years of experience in manufacturing, operations, or field service organizations.
3.    Minimum of 8 years of experience in a leadership position.
4.    Experience with process improvement approaches (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Practical Process Improvement, etc.)
5.    Experience working across a complex organizational matrix. 
6.    A track record of positive results and an ability to show how his/her contributions have contributed to the growth and bottom line profitability of an organization while enhancing or driving cultural change.

2.    Effective negotiating and influencing skills.
3.    Strong analytical skills with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. 
4.    Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
5.    Excellent multi-tasking, priority setting capabilities.
6.    Must possess exceptional managerial, analytical, organizational, and financial acumen.  Strong verbal and written communication skills.
7.    Budgeting, financial analysis, forecasting and employee selection are very important attributes
8.    Proven ability to recruit, train, and motivate personnel in order to balance staffing strength with profitability and growth. 
9.    Must be able to analyze and resolve complex business issues involving financial and human resources as well as properly allocate staff to achieve business objectives.
