Position Summary

•    To provide a quality service, maintaining the integrity of sterile instruments and items by receiving, checking and rotating stock.
•    To advise the Theatre Staff / STERIS of any missing trays/instruments.
•    To take a flexible approach to work within the department.
•    The post holder will undertake routine duties under minimal Supervision.
•    Perform general housekeeping duties ensuring own areas are kept clean and organised.
•    Provide cover for colleague’s absence.
•    To transfer equipment/instrumentation between locations within the Trust.

Duties

•    To ensure effective communication with colleagues, interdepartmental personnel and STERIS.
•    Be fully aware and understand STERIS Policies and Procedures.
•    To respond to or refer enquiries to the appropriate area.
•    To perform tasks in accordance with the agreed protocols.
•    To contribute to the care of patients/clients. In respect of infection control and the integrity, storage and stock rotation of instrument sets and supplementary instruments.
•    To fill the orders as required by the on-site theatre teams for their operating lists and inform them of any shortages/absence of instrumentation required.
•    To take receipt and check the instruments received from STERIS, including scanning and processing the delivery notes.
•    To complete non-conformance reports using SynergyCustomer.com.
•    To distribute and collect instruments to and from appropriate areas and departments across the trust.
•    To organise own daily tasks and work within allocated areas, with limited supervision in the absence of the designated line manager.
•    To work in accordance with the agreed operational policies and to propose the appropriate policy and service changes which impact within own area.
•    To have complete knowledge and be conversant with the STERIS policies and procedures.
•    To assist in the cost effective and efficient utilisation of hospital resources e.g. adhering to stock control guidelines in respect of fragile packages/instrumentation.
•    To complete time sheets and similar work records legibly and accurately.
•    To contact STERIS and report non-arrival of STERIS deliveries on site.
•    To undertake any other duties or tasks as reasonably required.
